Hello all. I've had my 1984 K 100 for nearly two years, what a cracking bike Very Happy . Been riding bikes on the road since I was 17 (so not long, cough :suspect: ).

In the process of customising her at the minute:

Hello from Norwich DSCN1617

Single seat, cut down the frame rails and have a side-mounted number plate & light. I would like to get rid of the clocks, but the charging system and starter doesn't work with them disconnected?

Anyhow. Hello all Very Happy .

The starter won't work because the neutral light needs to be there with all the circuitry, try to start by pulling the clutch in weather the thing is in gear or not.
The Alternator needs the current through the charge light to get going and once it is charging the light goes out.
If you have a poke around Fleabay you will find some small LCD gauge clusters that are used on street fighter type bikes.
