I might be able top help Col, I'm about to replace mine as it is too narrow, and it will become a spare. If you can give me about a week
I should get it done. Went thru Orange again yesterday, was a bit hot
on the road. (you better call me in a week, you already know how my memory is)
Bob.

I cut one for a friend, and it was not a simple operation.

Because the arms are not parallel, if you reduce their length, you have to extend the width of the stand too.

If you cut A, B will be reduced and C will have to be extended to compensate.

The stand will not retract where it should be against the muffler. If you don't modify the side stand, it will hook on the centre one.

When I cut the friend's one, she asked me to reduce it by 3/4". That's was way too much and I had to fit spacers under the gear box to compensate the height.
A simple 1/4" makes a BIG difference...

The alternative is to get a K1100 stand. They are a lot easier on your back. Again, the original side stand will not work properly with the K1100 centre one. You have to get both k1100 stands.

Here is the K1100 vs K100

That looks tricky, I think I might just apply some heat to get a bit more clearance and reinforce the joints again.
Some people just don't seem to sleep do they Crazy Frog must be the northern lights.

Looks as the 1100 stand left peg is angled to create the clearance, or are my eyes pissed??

Here is a somewhat unrelated question: I just took my center stand off my K75RT and found two springs on the floor afterwards. Hadn't as of yet figured out where exactly they go until I see them on those pics. Thanks for that!

But, my question is, that I notice the stand on the left has the "protectors" on the springs opposite each other. (one upside down from the other). But the stand on the right has them the same side up. I'm guessing the one on the left is correct? Right?

You are correct Wayne.
The rubber are just there to keep the springs apart and avoid any chaffing.

Hey Col looks like you are in luck, the spare I have is like the one on the left in Berts photo's above, no sidestand or connector for the clutch lock or no spring lugs on the sidestand side.
It's yours if you want, and if it ever stops raining I might be able to
do another tour of duty up your way , or give me a bell and we can sort something out. (bike out of action just at the moment to get my stand widened).

RT - did you change your side stand for the k1100?

I came across one in a breakers yard and I could do with making the change if it's easier on your back (old injury acting up!).

The k1100 side stand seemed to be a bit looser i.e. much more lateral or sideways movement as opossed to the normal swing arc. or is it that this particular one is very worn?

Hi mate
no I ended up sending it off to a better home with Col, after I pulled mine off (the new sports demon tyre was too fat) I realised that at some stage it had collapsed and previous owner/s had welded it up
with a bit of a warp in it, so I had it heated and straightened. Once I tightened everything up, new springs and sleeves in the pivots it came
out pretty well. I used to have an almighty clang as it went up, telling me it was off the ground, now it even comes up to the rubber bumper
and misses the heat shield.
So no help I'm afraid.
