Here is my cracking 1984 K 100. I love this bike, although as you can see I'm not to keen on polish Embarassed .

Anyhow I decided to alter her a little:

Making her pretty. DSCN1617

Making her pretty. DSCN1618

She's now sporting a nice chrome headlight, polished alloy headlight brackets and will soon have a single seat with the seat rails chopped off. The numberplate and rear light will mounted on the side.

I would like to remove those clunky old clocks, but the starter and charging system doesn't work when they are removed? Any way past that do you know? I would also like to cut down that exhaust and have a 'turnout' at the end of the downpipes. I would like her louder, she's way to quiet, but not too loud.

This winter she'll be stripped, the frame will powder cotaed black and the bodywork/ tank sprayed gun metal grey. She'll look lovely Very Happy .

Welcome aboard Norfolk_Boi. Sounds like a great project. I can't answer your question but I'm sure someone here can.

Changing the instruments is a subject in this rather long thread, you might get some other ideas, too.

Cheers. I'll have a read through that sometime. Just watched that video with the K with the straight through pipes. Now that's LOUD Shocked .

I would like the ol' girl a little louder, but nowhere near that. I'll most likely leave it until winter to do stuff like that. Just want to concentrate on the single seat conversion for now, and maybe wider bars as the ones fitted are too narrow.

The problem with working full time and having no leccy in my garage, is that I can't really do bugger all during the week Rolling Eyes .

So here is the latest instalment:

Seat rails cut down as well as the seat.

Making her pretty. DSCN1631

Making her pretty. DSCN1627

Seat will be recovered over the weekend and the plastic guard will be cut down to where it bolts to the frame. Hoping to remove those horrible clocks and the ignition surround. The pillion footrests are coming off and being fitted on the front as the rubber is pretty worn on the front ones. I'm looking for a small metal box to fix to the right side footrest hanger, the numberplate will fix to the rear of that with the rear light above. I would like to place the fuel injection control unit, the power socket and ignition into that. I could also have the tool kit and lock too.

And the advantage is.....?
By this mod I`ll guess you only make yourself future problems.

Hmmm, your right. I will keep the injection unit where it is. The power socket is fixed in the lid of the under-seat box that holds the unit. I will put the ignition there too to tidy the front end up.

I've nearly finished recovering the seat, it will be finished tomorrow when I re-attach the fixings. The plastic guard will be cut down to the level of the seat rails, I'll fit a metal guard at a later date.

Well I've been slacking I admit. More progress now:

Making her pretty. CopyofDSCN1893

Need to have a metal bar welded across the rear of the frame to give it a wee bit of strength. Also two plates to bolt the seat too as the seat lock and the pin for the seat hinge are gone. Need a rear guard too really. Silencor is gone and she sounds nice 🆒 . May have a little baffling though.

I want to replace the handlebars for wider ones with a higher rise. Maybe stainless/ chrome ones.
