So, coming home yesterday....... red temp light on the dash....
Quick check on the fan manual switch reveals fan has chosen to die....
Ah sure in 2014 put one in th RT..... and put the old one in the shed, later did a fix.

Nice to have the spare but a pig to get at....still the RT had a bad fan for 12 months and just got one for a France trip.

So an April job.

Dai the plastics come off easily....lhs and rhs bottom panel/liner and boxes, and the radiator panel does it for access. 10 mins gets them off. RT is easier than RS.

But then gotta go at and drain coolant and get the rad off.....

Were you in heavy traffic? The fan seldom needs to run ever in these northern latitudes in winter…so unless this is a direct consequence of climate change, I would be suspicious that there was a loss of coolant from the radiator. Either way, its open bike surgery but not necessarily just the fan to blame

A set route and the fans on the RT, RS and K1100 all come on at the same place. Definitely the fan, it croaks on the manual activation.
