Today I have been working on my spare rear drive with a view to run the drive splines in oil.
While I was washing out the area around the spline, I found that the bevel gear locking nut was only fingertight (the bevel box was from e-bay, so I don't know the history). Not having the elaborate BMW service fixture, I had to come up with a device to lock the drive so that I could tighten the nut to the requisite torque.
This is the result:-

Do you like the tablecloth?............ I've been learning from OG!
The bar size is arbitrary, I found a lump of 20mm square, but it must be big enough to be gripped in a vice.
Two 8mm holes are drilled at 70mm centres and a 10mm hole 77.5mm from the middle hole.
A 20mm long 10mm bore spacer completes the tool. Very Happy
Ignore the steps in the bar, I had used it for another jig in the past.
Paul.

Paul I like your work! Cool I was just thinking I was going to need to come up with a tool to hold the FD in the vice and here you've come up with a great solution. Very Happy Oh, and the white linen is a nice touch...

I've made something similar in the past out of flat bar ( for another job) but I like your idea of using something thick enough to hold in the vice.

Another great example of the lateral thinking I admire so much in members of this forum - didn't somebody once say "where there's a will, there's a way" - this proves it Wink

Thanks for sharing this with us Paul.
It gives me the idea to create a new sub forum for the DIY special K100 tools.
It will come sooner than what you expect, but,..... Not tonight Honey! Very Happy .( I know, I am the only one hearing this!)
