I live in Idaho, USA and have been a long-time airhead owner. Late last year I came upon an unloved 1985 K100RS that was calling my name. I'd had a test ride on that model years ago but wasn't impressed. The weight and buzzy nature of the engine turned me off. I'm of a different mind now. The old bike I bought is extremely smooth and the handling has impressed me very much. In short, we've bonded! I've since been bringing the maintenance up to date and installing some upgrades: a better after-market saddle and some heavier electrical cables. Now, I spend a lot of time wishing for fairer weather so I can have some extended tours with my "modern" BMW Very Happy

Yes, that indeed is my recently purchased 1985 K100RS. It sure didn't look like that when I picked her up though Crying or Very sad I put a good deal of "sweat equity" in her and I am now anxious to reap the rewards of my efforts. Last week I discovered yet more to attend to (leaking injector).
Here in Idaho we are spoiled with all the great scenic roads - but the soft economy is starting to show the results of deferred maintenance.
OG, it would be tough to single out just one or two great roads, but from my home here in Boise I enjoy a half-day ride up highway 55, then east at Banks through Garden Valley to 21 for the return south to Boise. Much of that runs beside rivers and it really does make for a joyful, head-clearing afternoon. Being so close, I can take that ride often and I do cherish it. With more time, there are countless other gems to enjoy here in Idaho.
