Here is a pic of the bike on the right side the left side is where all the damage was but my camera for some reason wont let me have that picture.. anyways the owner before me hit a deer about a year ago and had bike towed to his house and it has been sitting ever since, it has 13k miles on it and the damage list is short but after searching online a bit pricey, but we will give this a shot:) any tips for me please feel free to throw them at me and any ideas for best priced parts site PLEASE feel free to let me in on Razz i am hoping to prove some people wrong who claim i wasted money on a "non" running bike that needs so much work. and any tips on how to properly add photos is welcome.. i will be searching forum for my answers but seems i end up with tiny photos and text after them ..

Damage:
handlebars - bent
steering damper - bent
front fairing and left side - completely past repairs
Valve cover took a good beating due to no engine guards as seen in photo
left passenger handle was broke off
speedo panel was cracked
front fender - broke and gone

I'm sure you could do it mate and much of the bike will be really pretty fresh I would think given the low miles. All parts are out there, just need to bide your time for the bargains!
Best
Dave

From what I can see I agree. Still seems to have a lot going for it.
Access to parts and prices in the States seems more reasonable than over this way.

Well was out for the weekend only to find i was sent the wrong valve cover... joy.. also need to get new fuel pump any tips on best priced places? Got bike all together went to see if she had life in her as i purchased without knowing and before i start throwing money into it i want to know it is a runner, got her to start but fuel lines were dry as a bone after she started, i am assuming it is the fuel pump..on another note if anyone is in need of a valve cover i have a spare that wont fit my bike (ill post pics soon)

Pulled the tank off and removed the pump and all that is associated with it.... and wow what a mess... 75% of anything rubber was so broke down by the fuel that was left in the tank while the bike sat for 2 yrs... just messy... now time to look for parts. also went to take off the exhaust and where the headers are bolted to the muffler most were cracked to the point of being broke off completely. still on the lookout for the correct valve cover as i got the wrong one sent to me via the glorious ebay.. pic tonight of the mess.

Well it's good to see you're getting stuck in JRS. I've read on the forum here that it's the Ethanol in the gas that attacks the rubber. Thankfully we can still buy gas that doesn't have it here. Good luck with the stripdown.

I have looked a lot at motorworks .co.uk have used them. They will sell to you as far as I know and seem to have a lot of parts. They also have fairing parts.

The valve covers I saw recently on eBay, new unused stock for what was not big money. I considered it as mine nneed refinishing but decided to leave it and refurbish the ones on the bike.

The gas tank and ethanol seems to be a big problem, its not one we have here but one needs to watch out for it.

I saw a brand new gas tank on eBay recently at an eBay shop and thinkit might be still there, was £200 sterling or thereabouts. Either way yours looks good and once she is running you will like it.
