I use this rubbermaid container that we had hanging around whenever I remove the gas tank. Its a perfect fit that holds the tank securely while you work on it, contains any fuel spills and captures any bits you might drop. It also protects the tank when you set it aside while doing other work.

Great idea. I'm always wary of what may happen to fall on the fuel tank when I must set it aside for other work on the bike. Thanks for the tip.
