if you're hearing noise from your rear wheel and it goes away if you hit the brakes and you know your pads and caliper are fine, chances are you're missing the 2mm shim that goes betw the wheel & final drive. my bike was pulling to the right and i was hearing noise from the rear brake. rick from australia suggested i check to see if the shim was missing. sure enough it was. i researched the shim pros & cons and found that some riders and dealers have intentionally removed the shim to fix or minimize the pulling to the right (pttr) problem. it didn't fix my pttr but actaully made it worse. i also learned that if you remove the shim the rear disc/rotor may be off centered in the caliper resulting in the brake noise. in my case, putting the shim back where the bmw engineers intended it to go minimized the pttr and got rid of the rear brake noise. just wanted to pass that on. peace.

hey rick, it doesn't pull as much w/ the spacer. i decided to pull the plugs and noticed they were the wrong ones for the bike. couldn't find the correct ngk plugs so i settlled on champions. man, what a difference. now it's more of a subtle buzz rather vibration at speeds above 60 mph but smooths out if i keep a steady throttle. not comfortable using the throttlemeister on the twisty back roads which is most of my riding. i've also forced myself to relax, sit upright and not grip the bar as tight. it's as good as it's gonna get so i'm keeping it. thanks.

Relax enough to flap your elbows. it gets really tiring if you hold too tight.
When a friend went back to riding he was complaining about sore shoulders and all sorts of aches and pains till I convinced him to relax, I could see that he was holding too tight and told him to flap the elbows and things improved a lot for him.

the "master yoda position" is favoured by many ....well attempted by lots ....if you feel all tight and stressed ... its a good thing to try ..
