Iwas 15 in 85 when the RT came out.Sorry didnt put that in the first post. Maybe its to do with maturing as a rider find i ride a lot better now on elle than i ever did on superdream( Nighthawk to our US cousins).Maybe its because you know youve got the power underneath you that you dont use it or have to rev the guts out to get it. I do get what your ideas are frog with poll and having spent yesterday at local BMW (well rotherham really) shop getting parts for service and looking at newer BMWs and staving off potential buyers in car park with "oi shes mine",think the older style (the only one bike for sale there that i gave more than a casting glance at was an LT without radio or aerial) has a beauty to it where as the ones for sale GS and Rs newer style doesnt add to the bike or what lies beneath.
Oh and my mother totally anti bike for my entire life until i got elle so theres proof its got Pams approval!!

Maybe you have to vote once for the group 45-40 and once for 40-45.
By the way, my wife look at your picture and she think that you are an awsome good looking man for your age. I personally would'nt comment on this.

Cheers

Bert

Well, I'm right in the middle-age group @ 49 going on half a century. I got my first Beemer in 1976, age 16, and have been riding them since then and aging demographically along with them too!

Rick,
It's only numbers, just remember, your biggest enemy is the armchair, oh, and stick to beer not the hard stuff. I am enjoying the reading and envy the rides you have, my longest these days is a round trip of 220 miles to visit my daughter in Canterbury Kent.
I would love to ride to Beachcombers rally but too far for me now. Now that will be a gathering. I hope to see pictures Beachy.
Pst; mind your hair in the rear wheel.

Ajays you are definitely an inspiration - I just hope I'm as active when I reach 80 +. Actually, I'll be glad to REACH 80+ otherwise several of my 7 projects won't get completed, never mind getting to ride them !

Without being morbid - approaching mortality does seem to focus your mind / efforts. Whereas a few years ago I would have thought - "Ah, I'll do that next week" - I now realise that there aren't too many "next weeks" in the grand scheme of things.

Regrettably, much more behind than in front.

That's probably why nostalgia is mostly for those of advancing years !!!!

Ajays - you WILL be missed at the Pig Roast.................................

Wrong thinking Beachy,..forget that,..enjoy each day and look forward to the next bit 'o fun. Life is for the living. Most of my friends are gone but I make new ones. It is an effort sometimes but keep the ball bouncing...sex goes and believe me it is a relief..!!! Companionship comes in and that is enjoyable.

Keep the smile and the jokes. Just keep going.
Cheers old pal

Ajays,

don't misunderstand me - I'm enjoying life more than ever [ and still the sex !! ], but I'm just a little concerned at how long these projects are taking !

When I go off to Reichenau next week - I'll be with a whole new bunch of German friends that I have made in the past 5 years or so - AND of course the guys from the Flying brick club - and their friends.

It's a bit like when I was in business and you had a plan [ of sorts ] for the next 3-5 years ...................

Leon,
Wrong thinking. Just carry on as normal.
I have just started a project with a restoration of a barn find..stored 30years. Honda CB250G5. Reddragon has the right idea by the sound of it.
The armchair is your biggest enemy remember.
If you aim for the moon you will reach the house top.

Ajays,
Like the bike, brings back memories of youth..I had a CJ250T in yellow which was a revamp of the CB250 which I had a lot of fun with.
Regards my previous input, I should have said, I am enjoying my fifth decade but phycically I am slowing down a little bit and not mellowing out. I have a big list with jobs and hobbies I want to persue in life hoping to semi-retire at 55 like my dad did ( he just packed his job in and persued working for himself 3 days a week). My dad is in his early 80's and still quite fit. I find if I plan anything long term it usually ends belly-up.....

Good luck with the project

Regards
Leon
