Hi,
My name is David. I acquired a 1986 K75 a few months ago. I have had it out on a few relatively short rides, just to get used to it, and am thoroughly enjoying it. My previous ride was a 1986 Moto Guzzi Cal2 - a very differently configured bike, I must say that it took a little getting used to having the power band at higher revs and not having that low end torque and locomotive power of the Guzzi. Once I got over that issue I just love the (sprightliness) of the k75. It seems like such a playful machine and so much fun. There are some issues I need to iron out yet - the speedo not working , nor the fuel light. This combination requires me to carry a spare gas can in one of the bags. I have been working on the speedo - had it out twice and cleaned up the pins, but still no luck. My other ride is a 1976 Yamaha 400 Enduro. A completely different ride and much fun also. I am looking forward to the warmer, drier weather. Very happy to have found this great forum.

Yes, another Canuck.

You need to buy a K100 if you want to have the same torque and power as the Guzzi.

I own 2 k100 and a K75, and enjoy both models.
The K75 is the "fun" bike for the twisties (light, powerful at high rev, but enough torque in the low rpm: Can ride at 50km in 5th gears).
The K100 is the ox. it's pulling hard right from 1,500 rpm.

250cc and 1 extra cylinder change the feel of the bike.
If I was to keep only one solo bike (one of the K100 has a sidecar), the choice would be very difficult. I truly enjoy both of them.

Welcome to the forum.

CF

Thanks for the info about the difference between the two. I had contemplated getting a K100, when I was out shopping for a bike, but a couple of people told me that they were not as smooth as the K75. The only reason I sold the Guzzi was because it shook the hell out of my aging bones. I was a little gun shy when I heard the words "not as smooth".

The K100 doesn't shake, but you get a buzz in the handle bars and foot rest at about 3,500 rpm.
I owned Guzzi's before and I know about the shaking. My last one was a 1000 Le Mans in the late 70's. It was smooth in comparison of the 'old' California from the early 70s

Do I have access to the download page, and if so how would I find it? I have looked in the "forum" section and around different parts of the site, it seems to be eluding my old eyes.

Welcome Linxx how with so short a summer do you manage to decide which bike to enjoy.

Well, it is an easy decision this summer as my wife and I are traveling across Canada and will be away all summer. We will be pulling a trailer with our pickup, and I have decided to take the Enduro with us in the pickup. My wife doesn't ride any more, and the Enduro will be a perfect "coffee bike" for me to putz around on through the Eastern Townships in Quebec and over in the Maritimes.

Hi Linxx, don't mind Rick, he is merely jealous of our modestly priced bikes and parts over here in the 'other colony'. Though we have an abbreviated riding season by Oz standards we have less issues with the pesky flooding and wildfires of Down Under. I will say that they really know how to ride their K's there...

Well I will admit that we do have a teensy weensy little problem with excess water but it's never where the fires.

I like the look of your K Linxx - some naked bikes can look very plain and some stunning. Yours is definitely in the latter category.

Welcome along from the Emerald Isle and if you get an opportunity to post some ride reports from your travels that would provide great entertainment for the rest of us.

You speak of a "short summer" yet we ride all winter here. In winter some of us ride trials bikes. We have a great trials club here with a huge and varied riding area. I had to quit doing that 2 years ago though, because at 60 years old I ran out of scar tissue. Still, it's a great way to maintain and improve one's riding skills.

All winter Oh your weather is similar to the US PNW then. I had assumed it would have been snow for a lot of the winter but most west coasts are not as bad as east coasts.

We get a bit of snow, I think this winter we had 3 snowfalls. The snow melted off after a few days. We don't ride in the snow, but for the most part it's rain and grey skies. You start out cold but warm up pretty quick once you get onto the trails. It's all squatting, as you probably know the bikes have no seats. You wind up getting pretty wet weather it's sweat or rain, it makes little difference, but any time you're on two wheels its all good.
