Is it possible for it to leak inside the connectors. The outside nut is dry. Only inside where the 4 prongs connect is wet. I think that is causing the bike to I'll be riding then suddenly no power, bike just sputters. bu, bu, bu, bu, bu. Not enough power to move the bike but it does not die.

Does anyone know how this is sealed? If I just take the nut off and replace the gasket will that solve it? I have the tank off and the fuel pump out and all seem to work well and the fuel filter is clear. I have only had the bike a few months 22000mi on it.
Thanks for any help
ALan

I have taken the connector off the tank and apparently the sealant around the wires is defective. Anyone know if JB weld could fix this? Or another sealant to fill in with?

My 85 RT has just the O ring to seal it, then a couple of nuts to tighten it on. Been a few years since I put a new O ring in and have had no problems. (well, not with that bit anyway)

JB Weld site claims that once fully cured it is gas-resistant.

I have repaired leaking fuel tanks with JBweld with good results, as long as you make sure the surface is clean and a bit roughed up.
