I see that a few others are talking about having a get together to mark the 30th anniversary of the K over this summer.
What about we organise something in the 'ould sod' to mark the occasion too?
Any feedback on dates, place and availability?
Plenty of notice to organise if we start now.
I'll fix the weather as usual.

How about trying to get as many K's in one place, i.e. Phoenix Park in Dublin (then I can bring all my bikes !!) or a 2 day event - one day in the North the next day in the South ?

If
I have mine complete in time I would be up for it as well, but depends on whether I can get all the bits and pieces that I am looking for

Thanks 92KK the main part that I am looking for is the Right Hand lower fairing I have bits from several different K Bikes installed, it is multi coloured at the moment but that is fine, when I have the fairing complete I will see then about painting.

Thats one part I definitely dont have. My lower right is in bits after the crash as is the engine cover 'sump'. Main fairing took a hit too, spider definitely bent, screen broken, gas tank dented, mirror pods gone, [but have a spare left one], rear light, mudguard & pannier frames gone too. Motorworks have one though....

We seem to have a few Ks in Cork....Corkboy is not too far from me, Bjorn although he has an R is interested, there are a few more too.....The makings of some regular trips down towards Gougane Barra or Timoleague....not to mention Lismore...

I'm game if I am available.

As I rode past the K Club in Straffan this evening it struck me that it would be a good place to try and get a group picture taken, if something does get arranged.
If I am available I will be there.

Okay, I'm back. Had a few family illness issues recently that have taken up my time.
Everyone is poking at it with a stick, so lets get something organised.
I propose we get together either Saturday June 22nd or the 29th before family holidays usually start.
Show of hands for dates, please.
Can any of you Freestaters suggest a meeting place or route outline?
Was thinking of somewhere central or do you want to come up to God's country(Co Down).
The lakes around Enniskillen would have been nice but the G8 Summit is on there in June and the security would be a pain in the ass.

At the moment either date is good for me.

I like the Electric Monks idea of the K club in Straffan. If they had a banner or K Club signage (and didn't mind being associated with dirty motorcycles) then it would make a good picture for the anniversary.

And it's pretty central for a day trip.

I am feeling sore I will miss this?

I cant see myself being sorted for 22nd June and the date sounds perfect too. I am not around 29th, have a nice sojourn, my son is last one in college, have his graduation in Budapest on 29th with some well earned father/son time [wish it was on bikes] and looking forward to that. .....so dont count me in. Hopefully we can have another meeting in August.....

Freestaters? I feel like an anomaly...My greatgrandfather is 'resident' up near Comberjohn and I am overdue a visit.....long way from the Rebel County as are called down here.

Really looking froward to a trek up north though. I hope Comberjohn fixes the usual good weather.

My bike just blew its driveshaft apart this morning on the way up to Dublin and it's unlikely to be fixed in the immediate future, so i'm now looking unlikely for any meet.

Messy that. What mileage is on the bike? Try John Tilley in Tullamore for a good used unit. K100 locally here has approx 150k miles and driveshaft never greased or any maintenance and no probs.

Correct me if I am wrong but your bike is a paralever isn't it. What actually let go was it the rear uni and was it not long after doing a lube job? Questions asked for use in my database of useless information so far.

I have been missing for a while for some well documented reasons. All going well I should be back on a K within a week or so. Fingers crossed.

Since Comberjohn seems to be the master at organising nice places and excellent weather how about a date for meet up. I am open to anything at all from Stradbally to anywhere........Hoping we have not lost too many.....

I think maybe I will keep my signature as 92KK as I am keeping her.

maybe there is superficial damage but if you getting back on a k bike ,,,those bits an pieces could well come in handy ..

I have hatched a plan. My 'old' K has suffered a lot of damage to fairing [both mirrors, main fairing, right hand lower, main mounting spider], tank [dented, not punctured] , rear end, light and cowl, screen, engine cover, pannier frames [panniers ok] and various other bits and pieces. It does not need a lot to go back as a naked bike and am looking to do that in time. My parts list for a naked bike is quite small [rear indicators and cowl, front headlamp and headlamp fairing, right hand engine cover] and while I am not wanting a naked bike it will be a fun bike as my son is considering using it when we go out together

Add to your list for a naked conversion, headlight brackets, front indicators and a pair of mirrors.
Let me know if you decide to go ahead as I know exactly where you can get all of the conversion parts you need for a bad offer...
As this is my only bike for the moment, I can't see me taking the fairing off again.
Besides, I'll soon need the fairing to keep me warm and dry again.

I can of course see you will not be taking the fairing off again.....I did wonder about that. I don't consider going out naked so for me a naked bike is for a sunny afternoon and a leisurely coastal trip...We don't get such weather very often. I detect the necessary parts are probably available somewhere in Clough???......

Keeping fingers crossed for now.

Howdy Olaf....my K is flying once more, so PM me if yer heading this direction and I will show you the best roads...

Firmly back on K.........a few needed bits ordered from Motorworks so my mind is turning to outings.

All this lovely sunshine and no place organised to go......

I also think we might have one or two new faces.

I am also up for a run, I am not available Aug 3/4th ( at a family event in ComberJohns country but in the car  ) anyplace to meet is good for me as this weather is too good to waste
