I don't know if anyone has used this site before but have just found out about it, and you can find part numbers for any model of BMW Motorcycle with prices in $US. They ONLY ship to clients in the US, but it is worth looking at if you need part numbers !!!   maxbmwmotorcycles.com

I have never used them but the guys in US usually say how good they are and the parts diagrams and index is very good.

I've been buying from MAX and using their fiche for a good length of time.

I mis understood (as usual.....LOL) I read the post as "announcing" something new.

BTW.......after visiting with BOB from BOB's BMW at the rally......I'm gonna try ordering some stuff from them next......Bob thinks he keeps a bigger stock of parts on hand than other dealers. I was pretty impressed with him and his people.

I drooled over his custom & highly modified 85 K100 with a super custom side car rig that was on display there.

I'm kicking myself now for not taking a bunch of pictures of it.

Whaaaa

Visited their shop in New Hampshire last month, lots of 6-cyl bikes there.

Anyway, picked up a few parts and had a look around. Found one of their old t-shirts; black with nice 4" shadowed BMW roundel in dead center, and large exploded view of the 4-cylinder K engine on the reverse!

So, if you do order any parts from them, be sure to ask for a t-shirt too. ;BMW;

There are any number of sites, including BMW dealers, who list the ETK for your parts-look-up pleasure. It's got its good points and its bad: as I work in the business I am always re-checking the numbers when a customer wants to be 'helpful' and supply their own numbers on that rare special order that has to come from Germany. About a quarter of the time they've misinterpreted the catalogue details and it's wrong due to part number supercession, incorrect selection of the proper model, or production date splits, etc.

BTW, when looking up a part number and seeing two choices with a production date split, VON sorta means 'from', and BIS translates roughly as 'up to'.

For those of us who like the image breakdowns, for part number research between models, or who know our way around a catalogue, it's a boon.

I use http://realoem.com/bmw/select.do ...when not at work. It's clear, concise, and updated frequently, and there are US prices which show close to true BMWNA 'suggested' retail so you've an idea what the part costs - some US dealers (no surprise) will tack on a percentage above list price. Ours does not.

Cheers.
