Hi there, regarding the matter subject I have a question for the group,   I´ve been removing the battery without disconnecting the injection module based on the principle of " don´t doing anything electrical without disconnecting the battery´s negative first ". This of course makes the job a little more difficult, but , reading some manuals, I´ve found that the procedure indicates to disconnect the FI module in order to reach the battery, so you´ll be disconnecting the  module before taking out the battery´s negative.
Is there an error on the procedure or in my interpretation? or  Have  I been  to much conservative?.
I´ll appreciate your kind answers.
Best regards
JAP

I for one wouldn't put myself through the hassle of removing the battery with the computer and related stuff still in place on top of the battery.
The cable connection on the computer detaches easily, and during the procedure you can examine the contacts to verify there is no corrosion or other problems that may threaten reliability down the road.
Do pay attention to the release mechanism under the tool tray, otherwise, you're in for a frustrating time removing the computer.

If you want to disconnect the battery before disturbing the Jetronic (and it's the simplest way to disconnect the battery when doing any work), just disconnect the main earth on the gearbox (arrowed):

I keep a piece of old inner tube handy and slip it over the connector to prevent accidental contact.

You have to ride it there and believe me it will need cleaning when you get there.

Maybe we could all kick in a bit of cash to arrange a pickup , Mike I mean , shove him in a crate filled with steel wool , sunlight soap , WD40 & bronze wire wheels , then set him up in basement somewhere ? Smile

I wouldn't mind popping-down but not until after we've won the Ashes (shouldn't be long now). Wink
