I have the socks and the gloves.
Socks are wonderful inside boots.
The gloves are too small for me so have had little use

I also bought a helmet that requires a unique shaped head to fit. For $70 I would not put it on my families heads, but as a spare in case of emergency it is fine to have lying around.

None of Aldi's stuff ever fits me. Even the largest helmet wouldn't go past my ears.

I have found most of my Aldi purchases positive, which means it works good enough not to discard.
best buy so far was the 2 piece wet suit , which endured the 12hrs return trip to Sean's, during Rossko's escapades in January.not a drop got through.
hands , feet and face were a different story.
other good buys were  front wheel chock( used on K100 LT ), woollen midlayer thermals , winter jacket , socks , tank bag ( used on the Boulevard )
I was checking out an outfit just recently, and the chap was good enough to show me his leather jacket , it appeared of reasonable quality as well.
Tracey is considering picking up one of the helmet mounted action cams for Fathers Day, LUCKY me......
3 hr recording time, USB rechargeable , 5MP, motion detection, 120 degree wide angle, waterproof 30 metres (don't think I'll be snorkelling too much on the K) but still a good feature. All in all should be a reasonable buy. The only hassle is, getting to the goodies before they get gobbled up.sorry guys , NO SNIPING!!
if all goes well , a few posts to share . Hmm .. isn't there a ride in Sept just after Fathers Day?

Well worth a look into Aldi if you get the chance.

thanks for the heads up Andy.

I'll chase down a couple of pairs of socks and the disc lock.

The clothes don't go to FB size, so I'm out.

I may take you up on the offer please roskko.

Not quite sure I understand Blakey

Do you want the fat bastard socks and standard disc lock or standard socks and fat bastard disc lock?

Or is that the cankles socks and the 'you are not leaving the house' dick disc lock?

and that is rosskko with 2 s' and 2 k's

Geez, you're a dill..

No fat bastard socks. Normal socks. Well, 11 to whatever size.

No fat bastard disc lock. Normal disc lock. Mmmm, red would be nice, but yellow may be a nice contrast.

Two k's and two s'. What? Since when?  You can't use up all the k's and s'. There's only so many to go around and the likes of you can't use them all.

I apologise for the confusion rrrrooooossssssssskkkkkoooooo.

Here in the UK, LIDL do a very similar offer twice a year.  Their thermal undergarments are very good and I buy a couple of new sets every year.  Helmets are crap, gloves are ok, socks are also good.  If you are on a budget then LIDL is well worth a look for bike gear. Wink

Well rossco already has two s' and now I own two Ks

So done my aldi shopping for the year.
Socks. Balaclava
Mid layer pants and shirt
Kevlar pants and leather jacket.
I was at the shop before opening and still missed my size on the jeans and think got the last large jacket.

Oh. Also got the stand transport thingy. $69.
Time will tell.
The jacket is as stiff as a thing that is stiffer than an old board. Might have to give it to the dogs to play with to soften it up, but it fits quite well.
Hard to believe how many people are putting their faith in a $70 helmet to use every day.

Poor andy is on a bus, then a train, then another bus, then another bus then a taxi then his new bike and sadly he may miss the best stuff of the sale. I guess his consolation is a new (to him) k1200gt but that is his story to tell.

Scored myself a leather jacket and reinforced denim jeans. Very Happy

Pretty damned happy with myself after having lost 22 kilos since January...and can fit into XXL clothes. That's why I treated myself to the Aldi stuff.

Boots were sold out pretty quickly. I'll go back and get some more "motorcycle" socks. No XXL gloves that I was after either.

Anyone else bought stuff?

Got the long boots. I've had the shorter ones for a while because they had sold out of the long ones on that day. Have had some jeans and leather pants from them for a while. Mostly use the jeans, leather pants for the coldest weather. I missed that this year, being in France etc. for 2 months.
Also got some socks and another bike cover. Too many Ks for my limited shed space!

The secret?

Spend $3,000 on your teeth...dental work over a period of 4 months. Can eat anything unless it's liquid.

And the gym. Join one. Get a personal training to keep you accountable.

No more sore knees and ankles. Resting heart rate dropped along with the blood pressure.

All of this was done because I was getting tired of being asked to play Santa Clause at Christmas time...

Well done Blakey, it takes guts to be in a position to lose that much weight. I had to drop 27 kilos in about 4 months, and boy the body is now putting less stress on the heart.

I also bought some socks. Jackets and pants of the leather type all gone by 10am and what was left are either for dwarfs or giants.

Blakey , thats marvellous you managed to downsize your gear , the prices don't change , but your wellbeing does . Thats got to be the best outcome overall .
Had a good morning out at Aldi as well. Smurfette enjoyed herself , filled her Panniers to the brim.
Got in early to the shops , or so I thought, 30 others in front of me , but they were after the self propelled mowers and aviaries.
so I talked shop with the soon arriving riders.
Had the pick of gear when we got in there , shopping list in hand and went to it.
This is the first sale since our "off" moment , so I was happy to replace the Aldi helmet which survived the huge scraping on the freeway .
Another bike cover , as the Aldi one we use at home is worth its weight , damn heavy stuff too.
Rain pants , good gear , just watch the crotch when you stretch your leg over the saddle.
Almost grabbed a bluetooth headset , but opted for a " reduced sale" hiking tent instead , fits nicely into the topbox , with the already purchased camping chair and moodlight.
So far , I've been very happy with their gear , and will continue to search it out at sale time .

I've been trying on numerous jackets around the stores lately . The change in riding position has me in the same predicament as Kaptain , the shoulders and the inbuilt padding in most are preventing a good head turn for checking traffic over your shoulder. I tried a few on at aldi today , no luck there either.

Next trip away , Smurfette will be out showing off her new bling . Colour matched accessories galore, and its all in my favourite colour .... BLUE

All I wanted was another pair of jeans but I couldn't find any 'S'. Their sizing is way out imo. I'm an 82cm waist and I bought a small pair 3 years ago. They're still in sort of ok condition and I wear them to death. The jeans are by far the best value.

I picked up another set of wet weather gear because they now have the reflective paneling. My 3 year old original set are still ok but they'll give out sometime soon.

Bought a bike cover. That was good value.

I checked out the boots just out of interest. They didn't fit my foot and very loose around the ankle. There's no side zipper, just a velcro flap with a velcro strap. I've been looking at Motodry gear and their boots are very comfortable and look good too. I think I'll spend an extra coupla hundred for something better fitting for my feet.

The gloves are just ok. My winter gauntlets are onto their third winter and still good. Not water proof though but that never bothered me too much. I freaked out a lady at a caravan park once when I pulled in for the night. I was totally drenched and when I pulled off my gloves my hands were mottly black stained from the die in the leather. She gasped and took a step back. Can't be too careful when there's K-pox about. Laughing
I have some summer gloves which were from Aldi's MotoX gear they had 18 months ago. I wear them to death. Stitched them up a couple of times now... still going strong.
Like the boots, I think I'll look for a good quality pair next year.

I don't wear my Aldi leather jacket much anymore. Its the very first one they sold and the body proportions were out so the fit is poor. Had to get a larger one to get the arm length. I now have a summer and a winter Dri-Rider. No complaints.
I think the Aldi winter jacket/pants combo is way too bulky for my liking.

Onya Blakey. Well done mate. Big thumb
Cheers

forgot to mention , I was bailed up out front as I was jamming everything in to those spacious panniers and topbox .
One of Gaz's mates from Singleton was passing through , and collected some bike gear as well .
Showed me a few pics of his K100rs SE and K100 outfit .
He's shy'ed off the outfit as he finds it takes too much of his attention and doesn't enjoy the views of the ride as much . Bit of a shame .
Talked a lot of K stuff whilst there, asked him if he knew of the forum ... no never heard of it . Gaz we need to get you some business cards.
