BMW K100   I have listed my newly acquired naked 1985 K100rt on ebay . As the bike is way to good to push into the corner of the garage to collect dust as a spare parts bike. The bike passed a NSW blue slip ( roadworthy ) today so will be sold with blue slip ready to register. If the link on this page doesn't work the ebay Item number is 151097550107. If any members are interested in this bike offers over $1500.00 would be considered before any biding starts on ebay. Just slip me a pm.

Sure Rossko, Just so long as the one you send me is a Whitepower shock. I have a WP shock on the rs and its the cream of shocks, It has 15 easy finger tip adjustments for load. And the bike handles like its on rails. So I'll look forward the the WP in the post.

Do the swap RossKo you will be getting the better part of a deal. If I still had the WP that was on my K100 I would swap it for a shagged KONI any day.

I'll have to disagree with you Rick Maybe you had a shagged worn out WP that needed a rebuild. That Koni on the red K is in great shape and it doesn't hold a match to the WP. In my opinion the only other shock that could come close to the WP is an Ohlins Bar #### none.

It was shagged and worn out 4 times 2 under warranty and was done 2 more times professionally by a guy that really does know shockies it lost the gas charge in about 2-3 months the rebound damping was so hard that it jared and felt like a top out.
It would have been good for a track bike where there were no big potholes but for a road tourer it was an absolute disaster and cost $1500 for the priviledge.
Not long before I sold the K100 I put the RAM on it and was sorry I had made a deal to sell.
The experience guaranteed that I would never even consider having one again.

The Wp on my rs can be dialled in so as to be very soft and right up to hard as a rock . Im very happy with it. It has 15 easy adjustments that can be dialled in to suit any different loads on the bike. The shock is over 10 years old and was on the bike when  I purchased the bike. With the warranty papers for the shock is also a receipt for $3,600.00, If I had to pay that sort of money for a shock I wouldn't> I'm just glad its on there. After some research you can pay from $1000. to over $10.000 for a WP depending on its use. I'm sorry to hear you had a lemon.

While we're flogging suspension: I agree that Öhlins are quite good, if not overpriced a fair bit, but since they're rebuildable they can 'last a lifetime'. I have 'em on my R1150RT (came with), both front and rear (Telelever and Paralever), and tho' they're setup for a much heavier bloke they're easily and fully adjustable. I am able to dial out imbalance between the front and rear shocks and am always amazed at how they ker-plunk over bumps where most cheapie shocks ker-thump over the same road irregularities. You almost don't feel it, only sense it.

I also like Hyperpro shockies too, as they're far less expensive, the US wholesaler custom builds 'em for you, and they're all fancy alloy and trick-looking, for 60% of the cost of an Öhlins.

Now the Italian-made BiTubos on back of both my '87 K100RS and my '77 R100 are da bomb! With collar-type preload and thumbwheel rebound adjustment I can set 'em up for my weight and that of my date with relative ease. Both bikes' handling improved immeasurably.

The Progressive Suspension-brand rear shock on my Monolever Airhead is adjustable and of good quality too.

I hear good things about the British-built shockie what often gets flogged on this forum too. Dunno the name of it at the mo'. They make spark plug leads too. Chime in someone in the know. Ta.

In short, almost any non-genuine shock absorber is better than most OEM units since the genuine piece is mainly built to a price point, not necessarily a quality level. Cheers.
