After finishing this very expensive and time-consuming project barely a month or so ago, I binned it in some gravel and hit guardrail at about 35-40 mph, bent forks, probably bent frame and smashed upper.  Evidently my hand hit the kill switch during the crash as it was in the "off" position and the bike was not running while on its side. Here is a brief description:

Except for paint, this is a NEW, 1986 K100RS.  Front to back, top to bottom, inside to out, engine, trans, swingarm, final drive, forks, all gaskets, seals, bearings, clutch, cam chain and slider, tensioner, etc.  If it could crack, dry out or wear out it was replaced with OEM. Everything was blasted and correctly refinished, sliders, frame, stands, engine covers, etc.  I am afraid to add up the parts invoices.  When I decide on a color I will strip the tank and I have a pair of brand new, primed mirror assemblies waiting.

I bought everything new, OEM. The list of parts includes ALL seals for engine and transmission, ALL coolant hoses (including the little clear one for the coolant bottle), cam and crank cover gaskets, intake rubbers and clamps, clutch release bearing boot, clutch plate, swingarm bearings, fuel lines, fuel filter, oil filter, front caliper covers (the finned plastic parts), fork seals and dust boots, steering head bearings and some stuff I'm sure that I'm forgetting. I also purchased new Pirelli Sport Demons in the correct OEM sizes.

The bike has a Fox Twin-clicker shock and Luftmeister exhaust, System cases with NO cracks, and the input shaft, output shaft, driveshaft and final-drive splines are PERFECT. The bike runs perfectly.  I figured "in for a penny, in for a pound" and bought everything to completely renew the motorcycle. It was at this point that I decided to send the plastics off to be soda blasted to remove the paint which was fading and cracking (which is a horror story in itself).

The bike has 36,000 miles and is in Lititz, PA.

The parts that I figured would generate the most interest:

Belly pan and mounting bracket with all hardware (that came through the crash completely unscathed) 300.00 + shipping
Fox Twin-Clicker (sprung 190 lb -in all gear-rider) 250.00 + shipping
Luftmeister exhaust (very slight scrape on muffler) 250.00 + shipping
Fuel pump 75.00 +shipping
Instrument cluster 100.00 + shipping

Or make me an offer on the entire carcass:  I would take 750.00 for the entire thing.  There is a lot of good, brand new stuff in here.

A set of System Cases also comes with the bike.  They were not on it at the time of the wreck.

I will probably look for another one at some point but in the interim I thought one or more of you guys could benefit.  That way, in a way, my efforts won't be totally wasted.

Have you got some pictures after the crash? Someone else might want to put the effort in. Some indication of prices would be helpful as well if you want to sell.

Whatever about a crash its good you are here to tell about it.

Pop up some photos.....I just have a feeling that it may not be so wise to take it apart. The parts that are good are just too good to part with and your miles are much too low. Even if you buy a newer or different bike you wont get the same confidence or reliability without doing the same again.

Turn it to a winter project instead? A frame and forks is an easy thing to sort and my understanding is that it takes a lot to bend the frame. Plastic parts are small by comparison with what you have done inside.

Its hard to say without photos but if it were mine I would be looking at sourcing a bike for parts for a winter project, taking what you need and then sell off the ones you don't.

My LT also got crashed, hit from behind and it was easier to get a replacement which came in the form on a 1984 RT which I am enjoying lots. The LT is in the shed for a conversion to a naked bike but on little money as it has 101,000 miles.

I posted prices on the parts.

Everything that I am offering for sale looks exactly as it does in the above photos with the exception of the muffler (small scrape), I will post photos shortly.

I am in the process of rebuilding a 1985 K100 RS and some of the parts disappeared before I took possession of the bike. It had 17000 kms on it and was stored for 25 - 27 years, mainly inside.
I need at least the fuel pump and the left hand mirror.
Also the windscreen deflector if it is still usable.
Other minor parts missing are the two small panels just above the main inside faring knee covers, the cover for the small convenience box under the seat and the plastic cover for rear storage compartment at the back under the seat.
Thanks
Shep

Hey Dewey,  Sorry to hear about your misfortune, heart breaking I'm sure. Glad you weren't parted out! If your deal falls through please PM me. I'm

just a few hours south of you in Roanoke VA. and could be there quick with cash. She's to pretty to be pulled apart.

Hope you're back in the saddle soon. And if you see a black 85 rs with a yellow muffler shield running up and down 81 and 78 give a wave!

See ya on the road ( not ON the road but on the ROAD!)

The bike will not be an organ donor. It will insted be an organ recipient.  I havr a front end for the bike. I just need to decide which faring I will install on it. I already have 2 1985 K100RS. I was thinking a C faring or a Pichler. The bike runs too good and looks too good to be parted out.  This is all as long as the frame is not bent.  I do not think it is but need to install a front end on it to take some measurments to be sure.
