...bent?

Post crash report:

Bike seems fine in all aspects except for some fairing damage (which I believe is fixable).  Most all systems, (cooling and lubrication, frame, forks, etc.), are good to go, except for handlebar alignment....and a continuously blinking ABS light.

However, the handlebar (s) are a little off now when travelling straight on the road.

Forks are parallel....(I've been out there this morning with bunch of framing and drywall squares checking the same), before riding 40 miles.

Could I have hit those bars hard enough to bend them?...or the mounting?

Of course the answer is yes....but they seem to look OK...to the eye. (not bent).

Ideas?

Thanks,
Jim...with scabs and sprains, diminishing, and with the help of some serious ibuprofen and couch usage.Smile, am good to go.
PS...and around here, when one is thrown from a horse,  the old and wise adage is to get right back on.

Done. Smile

Whip the crash pad off and see if the clamps have moved.

You need the bars to yield or bend a little on impact to reduce the damage elsewhere. I imagine fork damage is not so likely on a slide, bar damage is.

...well...it appears that the bars and forks are true.  Fairing and speedo got a little tweaked and provide a definate "optical delusion"..Smile...and so will address that and fibreglass repair next.
Am still amazed that there wasn't more damage incurred.
Gives a new definition to the term "brick" Smile
Thanks to all for thoughts and concerns and Mike's kind offer of some bars.
Regards,
Jim

My LHS handlebar mount failed recently. The bolt of the lower handlebar clamp had broken off. They mounted in a largish rubber doo-dad. May be worth checking that.

Also, look up Toshi's site re: testing the ABS computer. Mine failed. The test works, ie indicated that the unit had failed. He can supply a repair/replacement at a v.reasonable cost.

Rickmeister.
