Hi guys,
can any of the Irish eccentrics in Dublin/surrounds get a chance to look at a bike for me?

I can get up next weekend (probably) but it would be great if someone had the time to look at it before it's gone.

Thanks,
Fintan

Well,
it looks like the Gods wanted me to have this bike, and my wife didn't object (which is more important ! - I can put up with the Gods ire, but crossing my wife would be more terminal Twisted Evil )

The story so far.

Sgmayhew was able to go out on Monday to have a look at it (the owner doesn't work on Mondays and Sgmayhew is retired).  He reported it to have a sweet engine, but needs a bit of a tidy up (his is immaculate - so I had a point of reference).

I talked to the owner, who agreed that it would need a battery, a full service/spline lube, possibly tyres, and a trailer to collect it.  So, unprompted, he dropped the price to €1100.

So, deal done  Very Happy   Sgmayhew gave him a deposit on my behalf. He later confessed that he would have bought it if I didn't, so I knew it was a good buy. I will give the deposit money to Olaf to bring up to him on the 19th in Stradbally.

I was then talking to Ringfad who also lives in Dublin. He, as luck would have it, was getting a trailer on Saturday. So he offered to pick it up for me.  He also offered to store it for a few weeks as I can't get up to collect it until the end of the month.

Money was now the problem, i.e. getting the money to Ringfad and/or the owner...

Then, the planets aligned, my boss asked me to go up to Dublin on Wednesday last, Ringfad had to go to Dublin city for a meeting that day. Our office is across the road from the station. So I ran across during the day, and met him as he passed, passing an envelope full of cash across the barrier (he didn't even have to exit the platform).

And finally two friends in Cork chimed in.... one said he can store the bike in his garage until I have my own garage cleared out (i.e. boat build). And the other said he would love to drive to Dublin and help me collect it at the end of the month.

I am truly blessed with good friends  Very Happy

(I also thanked my wife for trusting me - as we won't be going touring for a while, so it wasn't the best time to buy).  Maybe we will do a bit of touring earlier than planned ❤

Anyway, looks like I now have three bikes.....

Thanks again for all the help, and hopefully I'll get a chance to replay it in kind.

Three bikes, like busses, they come in threes.

A good find and if you are on for some trips then count Bjorn and myself and Pat O'D and probably Cluain si in....That now makes 6 of us in close proximity and Hover K100 has invited us down to Tralee for some 'alternative' biking which I am especially keen to dry try out.

Question is, when you head out.....which one to take? Seems 1 for popping around town, 1 for a little further and the LT for those long ones....At least you have a solution to that perennial twin problem of who wants to drive........and who wants to drive from the back seat.

Hopefully we will have our Stradbally breakfast the Saturday after Christmas, if the sun shines......a good introduction. Last time we sat from 11 to 1 and then home before dark on what was a magnificent sunny day.

Congratulations on that find, Fintan! Looks a fine one.

IF I spotted it earlier and IF I had the time for it, I would have gone for it myself. However I was not allowed to bring a non-runner home Smile

You got a good steed too.......and a good bargain. At least too the dog house is now full but if you ever have to sleep in it the R will keep you company......I was tired when I came back from North trip and found a very comfortable rest position on the K leaning back against the topbox, gear all on so nice and warm. To my surprise I fell asleep and woke an hour later. Worth remembering..........
