Hi All,

took my left switch apart to sort out the clutch start lock out switch and I found a piece of wire had been twisted onto the bridge part of the terminal behind the brown and blue wire and that the other end of it had been forced againts the handlebar as if make some sort of earth contact?

why would this have done? everythings seems to work ok? could be to somehow "cancel out" the self cancelling of the indicators? i am not sure that my bike has this feature? its an 84 k100?

Cant imagine why an earth would be wanted there all it would serve to do is make the indicator work all the time. I certainly would not leave it there.
All the K models have self cancelling indicators and depending on speed will cancel at either 220metres or 10 seconds, I think the speed is about 30MPH.

This link will explain how the pictures work https://www.k100-forum.com/t998-posting-pictures-and-movies
This is the layout of the relay box under the rear of the fuel tank SMALL WIRE ON LEFT SWITCH Relay_10
You will be able to see if the relay is there.

Does your Speedo work? Self cancel needs the speed reading to calculate the cancel, I think.

FYI: When the blue/brown wire is grounded by the left turn switch it sends a ground to the flasher relay to turn on the left turn signal.

I had one like that on the K100 when I first got it and the switch was just plain worn out.
It could just be dirty and need cleaning or if it has overheated at some stage the contacts get hot and sink back into the plastic insulation. I tried building up the contacts with some solder but had limited success and ended up replacing the complete block when the dip switch started acting up.
At least we can still buy new switches I have been trying ti get a left switch block for my Z1300 Kawasaki for the last 2 years, all thats available is used and most are worse than mine.
