hi all.....does anybody here use that anti puncture slime in their tyres.
theres lots of good reviews and lots of bad reviews on this subject
I might be tempted to use it as im pretty sure I have a slow puncture on my front tyre and still got a couple of thousand miles left in them....I want to replace both tyres in the new year cos id prefer to have the same make not mismatch tyres....
any coments would be greatfully received....

I have found that most of them work but be prepared to clean up a mess when you remove the tyre

If its a puncture.... get it sorted.
its easy to check elsewhere on the wheel for air leaks.... Round the beading... at the valve.

When it is time to get new boots give these guys a try

You could fill the bath with water and check for leaks/bubbles. Only checking a portion at a time otherwise the bearings may be exposed to water.

Next I would check/replace the valves. They could be loose and just need a torque.

Next I would take the wheel to the tyre shop and ask them to reseat the tyre. ie break the bead and reseal.

In the interests of your health, seek permission before using the bath. :bom:

Cheers, Dave

This is a non-issue unless you're concerned about vanity.

The tyre dealers will always tell you to have a matched pair of tyres and a set of 4 on the car that way they make more money.
The only time it is fairly important to have a matches pair of tyres is on a car with a LSD because if they are not very close to the same diameter the differential clutches will always be slipping against each other and wear out.

I use Puncturesafe (previously known as Ultraseal) in my wheels.

A couple of years ago I pulled an 1½" nail out of the back tyre of the outfit without any loss of pressure, so I'm convinced that it works.

On the down side, I have heard of corrosion occurring, but I've never experienced any in all the years that I've been using it.

Paul.

I've used it to fix mystery slow loss of pressure.  I'm certain it works for punctures too.

I do have a problem though, My front wheel is hard to balance and makes the front end shake a bit at speed, the dynamic balancing machine gives a different weight required every time they spin the wheel. I'm fairly sure that the puncture goo is the problem.

When the tyre comes off to get the wheel checked and straightened(there is a bit of out of round but that doesnt explain the inconsistent results) I wont be putting the goo back.

Al

I ran 'slime' in my old XJ750 and when I got the tyres changed there was a large build up of corrosion on the rim from inside where the 'slime' came in contact. the mechanic said that he had seen this corrosion so bad that the bead had nearly rusted through. No more ''slime'' or any other repair gel, I carry a plug kit for emergencies and that's it, your rubber is the most important piece of equipment.

Aluminium will corrode. It just doesn't rust.

I use it in my wheel barrow and my bicycle, but would not put it anywhere near any of the motorcycles.

I think I would only use it as you would a space-saver tyre on a car.... just to limp home and change asap.
