From my browsing today I spied a thread where the idea was suggested to remake the naked K radiator cowling.

I have not yet painted mine and it is available if anyone wants to have a go at copying it.

It is pretty much perfect in as far as tabs, knobs and connectors go.

One section is broken as shown in the last pic. It is the flat piece the screw plate thing slips on to. I have made a temporary repair. The bottom right corner is a bit dodgy but not bad.

Would need a rub back but here it is.
As you can see it is a perfect match in colour and texture for my rear seat cowl.

I reckon that if you made the thing in one piece it would be a lot easier as you dont need to make all the tabs to screw it together.
I also think that mirror replicas and side covers would be a good thing as they are getting hard to find now.
I do know one person that has some experience with glass but I'm not sure he has ever made moulds. I think all you need to do to start is make a plaster of paris mould from the original then work from that.

plaster would make a good negative

i would be doing it in serveral pieces ...as all the releifs etc would be hard to pull out of a mould ...unless you made it out of latex in a mould of sorts to hold all the latex without distortion

the layering process with the glass fibre would be easier as well into just a straight mould ...more like a sectional mould out of latex would be best in the long run ,,,as further replication would be easyier overall

just some thoughts

havent seen one like that before rossco ...i think ive seen the 75 ones ...but the k100 no not yet there apears to be different sizes between the 75 and the 100 also

This parts was also different on the very early 100`s than the later models.
The tank was changed 04/85, then also the rear mountings on the shroud.

Are all the radiator surrounds the same? If i could get hold of the bits i would definitly make copies.

The bike this came off is 0009117K100.
I believe late 85.

Hopefully that helps.
Regardless it fits my 86 bike perfectly and if someone has the knowledge to make more from it then I am happy for them to do it.

From the original postage on the site Caferacer62 proposed making copies. Are you still keen? I can send it on up or bring to Bingara for a special delivery

Plaster strips could solve that if you used masking tape to cover the matins between bits Wink

AFAIK there has been nothing futher done. If I can get one I can get a mould made from it but they are few and far between here in Oz.
