hoping to catch up with some Sydney siders on monday,
as I have not yet been on the Putty ( bikewise) I'm keen for a morning run,
stop for morning cuppa along the Putty.
and meet up with Al58 and others at Spencer ? for lunch , before returning to Newcastle via Wollombi
Don't like the idea of heading up the freeway at the end of a long weekend.
Be good to catch a ride with anyone else ,
looks like top weather today, may get the same tomorrow.
hoping to leave beresfield / maitland around 7.00ish.

Bit of late notice given by me, but I plan on heading out in 20 minutes to meet Ed and Al.

Not sure who else is going. Fingers crossed Ed is still going to Spencer.
Sent him a sms, but I guess he is riding.
Oh well. Spencer here I come.

Well, do to no communication on my part, no one else knew I was coming.

Got to Spencer at 12.00. Sat till 12.15.
Headed home.
Met Ed and Al on the way back.
Turned around back to Spencer.
Burger with the lot -pineapple and a large vanilla moove.
Talked crap. Patted dogs. Got rained on.
Thankfully the rain only had annoyance value.

Good to see Ed again and meet Al and the dogs.

Good to meet Grover and Rossko. Had a great run up to Colo Hts except for a bit of fog, Great run across to Wisemans and Spencer. A bit of rain on the return trip but not much, had to put the covers on for dry dogs and change to the gloves I know are waterproof. Headed home through Yarramundi and Springwood (and more fog Smile ).
A good day. Should have a couple of short video clips up later (first time using this camera mount so don't really know how its come out yet)

Thanks to Al and Rossko for their company today.

some heavy fog for the first hour. but not enough to dampen the spirit.
doing the Putty June_l10

had a good run down this morning, some good windy bits  at both ends of the Putty.

making our way from Wisemans to Spencer , and you meet the strangest folk, so we gain another K for lunch. all are welcome.
doing the Putty June_l18
so Rossko now has a winter and a summer bike. a lot of pampering needed at home now. for Liz ,not the bikes.

the countryside looking splendid in it's autumn trim.

doing the Putty June_l16

being a bit of a mechanical novice , my input was seldom, however I enjoyed the discussion nonetheless.
plenty of forum talk though.

"mate, you wouldn't believe how great these K bikes are........honest ,  really"
doing the Putty June_l19

the rain held off until our departure from lunch, then it was only minor for the run north back to Newcastle.
it was good not to run into some of the heavy stuff Klompy, lucky I didn't check the weather beareau before leaving.
doing the Putty June_l17

still had another half hour from here , in cold fog, just bearable.

thoroughly enjoyed the day out, back into the reno's next weekend.

so I can cross this one off the bucket list, and move to the next one on the list.

Al followed me after we met up and mentioned my brake light was not turning off.
He was right. Of course.

Turns out the little plunger thingy is broke. The rear one.
The plunger appears to be plastic or some weird plastic and fibre material. It is easily scratched with a scribe. Mine has snapped off at the base of the unit.
Yay.

Nice pics Ed. I really have to improve my posture. And get some pants that dont make me look like my incontinence pad has come loose. And sit up straight on the bike.

glad to oblige with pics guys, a minor ride compared with some, but for me very enjoyable.
good company, good roads, and good weather for the most.
Rick , I'm in awe of your previous trips, those destinations you mention are top spots for rides.
and not forgetting NZ as well.
Sean how did your w/end go, hopefully Saturdays rain didn't upset events for you and Bella.
Al , that was along the 16km stretch on the northern end, shows more ruggedness than the lush green south end, both with plenty of bendy bits.
thought I would throw this one in , for a comparison on wheel size, LT to Al's outfit which runs car tyres all round,
Sean you run a standard on the front, and car tyre on the rear don't you?
that red outfit looks tops against those Autumn colours

That's a nice pic too. I've got 15 x 4 rims front and rear, the rear tyre is a 165/80-15 which is much the same diameter as a standard 130/90-17, my front is a 145/65-15 Smart car tyre. Like I said GroverK I got a good deal on the bits.

I had a fairly good ride to Gloucester and the party which went for two nights. Took a shortcut on the way down via Bendemeer then back across to Walcha on the Oxley.
doing the Putty Sam_3110
During a lull in proceedings I slipped over to Nabiac and the bike museum: Needless to say, as soon as I walked in the battery on the camera went flat...had to keep rebooting it to glean a couple of pics out of it.

I feel it's important to note that of the literally hundreds of bikes there, there is NO BMW K100 in any shape or form. The person on duty asked me what I thought about this and I replied that....It's probably because they're still being ridden!

Bella is a chick magnet, as many important historians have said. Sadly, by the time I got talking to this cutie from the H.OG., I was having such an acute allergic reaction to a bottle of red that I'd drunk at the party that I looked like Lana Del Rey and when she turned to speak to me I replied with: "Pfft..Pffbbb...Snnn"  Surprisingly, she walked quickly away.  👽

A short vid on the trip home. I took some others on the Oxley and Thunderbolt's, but have yet to upload them.

Awwww Sean,

You know the chicks are only using Bella as an excuse to talk to you.

I noticed in an episode of 2 1/2 men last night Charlie bought quite a few bottles of 'milk of amnesia'
Maybe you need some of that and just forget the experience.

anything in particular that took your fancy, a Trumpy or two.
I visited their site via youtube during the weekend, there is certainly a bit to look at. sorry to miss out .
Sean , a nice gesture would be to loan your outfit for display , for historical purposes of course.
that would solve your storage problems , and boost the K exhibition as well.

All good, need to get to Sydney sometime, my dad worked on the flying boats at Rose bay enroute to godzone country, K iwi land, he never went back. Its all good old banta, heaps of mates live there now, where did we go wrong all cows, a few bleeters and pine trees now, with a little manufacturing, even the chinese firm Haier bought Fisher and Paykel, bugger. Atleast the roads are quieter these days.

What's the camera?
It's not easy getting the actual bike sound is it without hiding it behind the screen.  If there is any kind of external mic, you can always cover it with foam.?

Sean.

The sound is the hardest thing.

I aspire to the quality of this guys videos.  He uses a GoPro on a chest harness with a separate sound recording device (mic mounted near the tail light).  I've subscribed.

I'm quite happy with the sound on mine. Camera shake is still an issue...and of course that thing where I actually need to film/do something worth looking at! What a Face

all I could get was a heap of noise.....hence the soundtrack..something heavy metal, or get someone else to film you like this.

thanks for the responses guys, this was my first try at uploading from youtube,
I have to admit the quality of the video, such as shakes and noise, really need working on.
Al that is a top video you posted , damn good effort from the rider. really enjoyed the scenery and twisty bits.
Sean, I'll be trying a GPS bracket mounted to either the dash or chest,
I had one I was fiddling with this morning. It has top- bottom pivot , and sideways  swivel , and the mount screw fits my camera.
If I mount it to the dash, I can remove the turbulence effect and pick up more of the engine, and when needed swivel for a side or rear shot.
mind you, I may start riding like Rossko was last weekend to do that.
benefits of a body  (helmet )mount are that the camera picks up more of the riders actions and keeps the horizon stable.just becomes awkward when carrying out head checks.
Klompy , I would have liked to add a bit of my own sound to the vid, I'm not yet at that level though , so I do apologise.I'll keep at it though.
I suppose everyone is out there looking for their own individual expression of their ride, it's a matter of finding your best approach to it.
btw, the camera is simply a Canon Powershot A2300, cheapy from Big W.
thanks again , all views taken on board, every bit helps.

I tried mounting my camera on the fairing, facing backwards today to get some video of Bella. Useless...Embarassed Got mostly footage of my elbow and a lot of shake. Am going to have to figure out a better place to mount it....maybe back in the sidecar facing rearward.
Best I could glean from a couple of Gigs were a few stills.

a reminder of the perils on our favourite ride spots such as the Putty rd in the Hunter.
this story  is close to our hearts at present.
my wife was only just riding through the area on that morning, and made mention of the young chap riding on his L's with a fellow family member. a lack of experience resulted in him braking heavily whilst performing a pass of a truck, trying to keep up with the other bike. he ended up laying his bike sideways in front of a 4wd.
" a small world", he is from Kurri Kurri , just 10 mins from me , not far from K75cster,  my ex boss just text me to say he also has a blue beemer and admired mine sitting outside my old workplace, and came in to ask about it . our thoughts go to his family.
there are times I'm sure that many of us go outside of our comfort zone , "the Buzz " can sometimes end the wrong way. I'm not shy in letting fellow riders know my limits,
if it means hanging back and taking a couple of extra secs or mins , at least you get there.

take it easy all and ride safe. enjoy it.

Not good news Ed, I know that most of us when younger took risks finding our limits. We all had to do our apprenticeship just as the young blokes today do , we can only hope that his silly mistake doesn't become another statistic.

Hers a pic of me on the Putty rd in about 1981, before gopro. Young and silly maybe , having fun, shit yes!

just added the link to his story, apparently he just wanted to keep up with his Dad who he was travelling with.
his Dad was to be one of the first aiders to assist him. tough job but who wouldn't for a loved one.

been in that predicament many a time myself, misjudging your abilities and time required to execute the task.
when done right , what a buzz to open up and feel the capabilities of your machine. as Charlie says " whoohoo!"
lookin sweet there Smithy, was that the top or bottom end of the Putty?

Looks like reedy creek rest area Ed one of the 35kph corners amidst plenty of fun stuff, in the early 80's I worked for Singleton telecom and owned that area, so was happy to run the sr500 through to the halfway garage and grab a coke and head back home, easily twice a week in those wonderful summer days, the run across from Bulga to broke and onto Cessnock was a buz as well, nowa days its wall to wall mine traffic
