I am right in thinking that the rear drive oil seal and 'O' ring can be replaced without removing the whole bevel drive assembly from the bike? John

It might be possible, but I think it would be easier if you did. If your seal and o-ring need to be replaced, it might be prudent to do a complete disassembly, cleaning and inspection. Check out the video below.

Job done. It needed heat an a few taps on the caliper mounting. My rear drive did not have the 10 mm taped hole, 1994 bike, perhaps deleted as a cost saving. 88,000 miles, is that the life expectancy for the seal? John

The Paralever cases don't have the tapped thread.

Just saying that at some stage they obviously stopped tapping one thread and as the Paralever models don't have it and the cover plates are the same, it was probably at that time that it was deleted.
