On a recent trip to the National Motor Museum in South Australia I came across a prototype R whose bodywork was designed for a K. No doubt a lot of wind tunnel work was carried out to make sure the design was as sleek as possible. I believe we may see this on world superbike bikes shortly.

I'm reminded of an interesting BMW S1000RR that I spotted at the Seattle International Motorcycle Show  (IMS) last February. A local bloke took his new bike and decided it needed a retro look and entered it in the custom bike portion of the show, but you shoulda seen the scowls and heard the howls from the puristas. The 'builder' stood there all day talking to anyone who was open-minded enough to study it. It was interesting and I liked it.

When the local builder, Joe Aesoph, spotted my nametag he enquired if he could bring it in to have the dashboard re-flashed under warranty, or would he get laughed out of the place? He was used to people laughing at him, apparently. I told him the techs would likely get a kick out of it, but that it'd prolly be best if he lashed out on the half an hour labour charge it'd cost to get it done. He seemed taken aback by my suggestion.

That bike is "Frankenstein", I have met the owner, even stayed at his home one night while travelling in SA.  He rode that from London to Sydney.  I remember his garage having around 6 BMWs, all the same colour and all carrying the same SA rego plate(naughty). Including a 1928 model!

PJ would know much more about this bike.

I like the 100 litre fuel tnk option. 300 litres of luggage is good too. The best way to travel to make the bike suit your preferences.
