Government of Canada has a 2002 R1150RT on offer but one limitation is "for export only".  So, even if I had enough to buy it, I couldn't register it in Canada.  Darn! Wouldn't mind this beauty (but I'm positive the Missus would kill me).

It's a European version so it would get the nod of approval in Oz. But I think mine would just give me that look if I even suggested it.

Any idea why it's E only?  Emissions?

That is the big difference between the NA and European versions.
Someone maybe tried unknowingly to import it and it wasn't worth sending it back so abandoned it to customs.

I think the only "big difference" is whether they're cat'd or not for emissions purposes. (That and the headlight switch - LOL.)

I'm not an expert on what constitutes "BMW NA" but I do know that in Mexico (technically part of NA) Mexican K1100s didn't have cats - at least the early ones.

All Oilheads (R1100, R1150) for use in North America had catalysts and O2 sensors fitted. None of the R1150 series had headlight on/off switches unless they were 'authorities' models. The main difference between US, Canadian and those sold in Mexico is, of course, the speedometre.
