Have been hunting around for a decent pocket sized DAB digital radio for use while riding/working on the bike/doing dishes etc. I love Radio Natioal and 702 Sydney ABC. AM sucks, but its what Ive been using for years. plus on digital there are heaps of extra stations such as ABC jazz which is excellent
Have been sceptical abouts digital radios due to doubts about reception coverage etc.
There are a few options, but they are priced between $80-$180 which is to much for a pocket radio.
I had given up and was going to get a $30 base model benchtop radio from one of the dept stores. I went into K-Mart @ Marrickville Metro (none of the other K-Marts I had been to had this model) and found an absolute bloody bargain!
It was $15, comes with earbuds, uses 3 x AAA and is FM with DAB+. And the reception in Sydney is bloody fantastic, even in my concrete box apartment and also while out riding. You can save 10 preset stations in both FM and DAB mode. About as big as a small pack of ciggies and about the same weight too really.
Seriously seriously good buy. They sell the same model on ebay for $40 and its RRP is $50. If anyone wants one I can grab one and post. They only had a few left. And I have not seen them else where. Cant recommend it enough (keep in mind I am in the city re: reception)
