I'm thinking of taking the fairing off my RT given most of my riding is done in 20 degC or better. Has anybody had problems with engine cooling without the shroud?

Headlight would need to be replaced. Any other issues?

I can't say for absolute but I have never heard of any problems with regard to doing that.

Ive stripped my 11LT to K1100/2 design Album: K1100 LT to K1100/2
the 11 models are known to have more heat to get rid of
everybody with an 11 LT knows that - (boiled eggs in Summer)

after stripping: Ive heard my fan only 2-3 times
nice riding !!

Here in Europe I know a lot uf guys who stripped the 2V models
no problems !!

Just what I needed to know as I have just today put my K1100 on the road.
Oh well at least I will be able to eat and ride without stoping.

i think all the designs would have similar issues ...

i still have my upper on peter but the sides removed and the radiator cowling also off ....(while i attend to some issues over a long while)

i intend to do some heat flow mods ...but cant recommend them yet ...but will do some charts as i get my silly old self into gear over the christmas break ....best time to try them out as its stinking hot round here then.

just have to make sure ive got enough fiberglass stuff for the moulds ive built ..i better do a run down to the marine place again next week i guess (far cheeper than "off the shelf kits" from hardware joints )

youll need to sort out turn indicators too mate ...and brackets for the headlight ....r barrero did a good mod in his cafe project ....which looks nice http://k100rt.aforumfree.com/t2611-my-k100-cafe-racer-project-story

Just have a look at a "standard" K100 like mine..you need another headlight and blinkers...look at thread on led running lights for a photo. If you get the little shroud for the headlight, it will solve your blinker problem.

Aerodynamics are to be considered as well - I took the bottom fairing off a SP1000 Moto Guzzi once and hit the high way - Big surprise! A completely different bike to ride.
I put my faith in the designers..... And my new cooling fan.......
