Charlie is one of those people who puts so much time into finding ways of keeping our Ks on the road. He will always find the time to modify, trial and put into practice things to make life easier for us. The latest task is to see whether he can find a way of making the earlier tacho more reliable. He is a bloke who would give you the shirt off his back. Well now he does not need to go without a shirt.

I would agree with that. It would be good if he got a trip of a life time and came up this way. We are looking forward to meeting Bill and Dave this year and hope Crazy Frog will get here some time too.

Ringfad won a great prize on the 2014 Photo contest. We will take anyone to that same gate and organize a Guinness. Beer depends on the water and this was why the brewery was set up in Dublin in the first place. Because we don't export the water it can never taste the same if brewed elsewhere.....

I had this mad idea, wonder would it work, [CF would have to tell us how many active members we have] of at the end of year we all put a small amount of money in a pot, a few € or $ or £ and raffle it for someone to make a trip to another country to meet fellow K riders. Its a wild thought that could be a real fun thing if there was enough in it. We used to run these things at dinners for fun, everyone would write their name on the back of a certain denomination bank note. Then a note was drawn out. The idea was the amount was significant enough to do something meaningful with.

I agree, Chazza is the man, but he would prolly just shake his head and disagree, as it is all natural to him; just the way to be in the world.

As for organising rides in various places for forum members, winners or not, my offer of a K or two to ride and a comfy place to stop at night is on the table while I'm still in the great Pacific North West.

I would be careful with those kind of offers when there are Eccentrics around. Last weekend someone in Ireland posted an invite to a party and got 250 people on their doorstep.......and you know us Eccentrics get everywhere.... a bed and a bike....what more do we need.

Cept I don't like flying. Not scared of it, just find it unpleasant. I have only once in my life flown to go on holidays. Too much of it for work.

I happily fly a paraglider or hang glider though..... or even better ride a K.

There's an excellent paragliding school just north of here, but you'd have to fly to get here.

Living on a rather large island in the middle of the oggin, flying is convenient to save time when one likes to visit fun places.

It is and always will be the worst part of travelling.

On the flip side, the only flying I do enjoy, is in a helicopter or a low flying K.

Its commercial flying I don't like. I love the other stuff and 14,000 feet in the Alps in winter paragliding...well, even a K doesn't match that. But its the closest you get to it and you get to meet really nice people.

Ditto with the flying. I just calculated train, waiting and flying time from home to our daughter's family home in France. (New - 24 Feb - granddaughter is beautiful, by the way.) total was 43 hours.

The plus side is that the flight to Dublin next month will now be much, much shorter.

When any Eccentrics come to Oz, I'll be one of many to put out the welcome mat. Fortunately, I don't think there are 250 of our particular Eccentrics, so the party will be manageable.

Bill

And only few members have this privilege. Only the best trusted members are elevated to this rank.
Charlie, you've been knighted.
Now we should refer to you as Sir Charlie99.

We should not forget to recognize that ainsjac was the one initiating this promotion.
Thanks Ainjac for that.

Soon this forum will celebrate its 7th anniversary and it initiated so many international friendship and help that I foresee it living for ever.

Just a word of warning Crazy. You may not be aware that the concept of knighting in Australia is in a contraversial stage at the moment. Our prime minister has decided to knight Prince Phillip of England! Suddenly it has become a joke. You do know the old saying though, "once a king, always a king, but once a (k)night is enough."

Excellent news and richly deserved Sir Charles of Brisbane.

The awesome number of your post alone shows your long standing commitment to the forum, however, the quality of your help and the good humoured way that you contribute to all manner of posts from welcomes, ride reports, right though to to sharing deep technical Know-how epitomises the very best that this forum has to offer.

You thoroughly deserve to be up there on the hallowed pedestal with the likes of Inge K and Rosskko.

Bask in the moment and enjoy the global recognition and respect. my liege.

P.S. Not quite sure why Crazy Frog is not shown as a VIP too though....come on Bert, you are the inspiration behind this all and must surely promote yourself to V VIP or President at the very least.

Thanks for that BAE
Bert doesn't need 7 stars, but is in desperate need of 7 .
Look at what the Halifax streets look like. We even got a frost quake. I never heard about it or experienced this before, but I can tell you that's quite intense (The temperature went from +5c and 40mm of rain to -25c in a couple of hours) At 2am, I was in my attic to see if the roof had collapsed.
Neighbors were in their yards to see if a plane or a comet crashed.

This year, I don't expect to have the bikes on the road before May and it will be a short season. Sad

This winter Canada cerebrated the 50th anniversary of the red maple leaf (our flag), and we had to change the Canadian anthem to reflect the reality of our society.

At the opposite and of Canada, it's been record breaking temperature in the other direction, ski hills are closed, the flowers are blooming, people are worried about water this summer, motorcycles are zooming up the Sea to Sky highway as if it's summer. I need to get my bike back together!!!

Oh and Charlie, congrats!!

Wow I had not even noticed thanks so much.

I try to give practical advice that wont cost a fortune because I am like most of the others here in that if we could justify or afford a new bike we would buy one.

Bert you and the rest of the population of Nova Scotia need medals for dealing with that climate. I would have been carted off in a rubber truck years ago or more likely have moved to the west coast.
