I have recently removed the lowers from my K100RS and was thinking that the look of the bike might be more complete if the side panels extended further forward.

Some K1100 panels look like they may fit.

Has anyone done it?

Do you have pics?

Were there many mods to do?

Anyone have a spare pair for sale?

K1100 side panels (below the seat) are tabbed into a bracket fixed to the tank, which earlier Ks don't have. But also at the rear like an earlier K, and into a slot at the front. The lack of the petrol tank tab wouldn't prevent you from attaching them, however. I think it's Japuentes who has these on his K100.

Should be doable as there was an option to retrofit K1100RS fairing lowers, belly pan and side covers to a 16v K100RS.

I recently converted my K100RS fairing to the 1100, but kept the 100 side covers. I can tell you that the 1100RS fairing has a different knee pad that has a pin for the front of the side cover to attach to. Without the lowers, the pad and it's pin won't be there to hold the front of the cover. Also, as mentioned earlier the bracket with the grommet on the tank appears to be in a different location which might require tank replacement.

As TWB says it's brackets used on the tank mountings, these brackets is mounted
to the lug which is used for the K100 covers with a screw, nut and big washer.

The rear mount is opposite from what you have (a pin on the cover), on the 11's the pin
is on the tail part.....but you could glue a pin of suitable dia to the covers.

Bottom mount is the same but a fork instead of a hook.

But when you don't have the groves in the inner panel for the front of the covers
they will become rather flimsy and probably blow of the bike.

Search for AUSBRICK's bike here on the forum, he have a 11LT cafe w/o a fairing.
I think he also got the question about how he did fix the the front end of the
covers.....and did show some pictures of his solution.

Note that 11 LT and RS covers have a different design, but same mountings.

Thanks Inge, I did note that.

I like the sleeker look of the RS panels, I may even re-profile them a bit to more resemble the original K100 covers but longer. If I can find any!
