It was a day of mixed emotions. My Son In Law arrived early & between us we got Gertie into the middle of the garage & after giving the tank a good clean out, we then fitted the new pump (thanks for putting me onto the right place Rick), Pump saddle & new filter & new battery, then, refitted the tank & reassembled all the inner fairing, then the big moment, the starter wound her over a few times, then she purred into life, first time she had run for well over 2 years, SIL was amazed how smooth she ran. It's a K mate ! Don't forget it ! Rolling Eyes
SIL helped me get up on the seat, it's over 3 years since I sat on her last.
It was great to be on her & hear her run again. Out of curiosity I tried the clutch & my hand had enough strength to use it, but I didn't have enough use of my left foot to use the gear lever.
Then the sad bit as I saw Gertie being ridden away from me for the first time in over 22 years.
The garage is now an empty place.
But I know that SIL will only use her as a hobby & look after her.

Gees, I'm getting soft in my old age Sad Rolling Eyes

Definitely mixed emotions, good that you got the problem sorted.

I still wish there was a way you could use a K! Maybe you need a 'project'? Seems like there will be more stories, I was having a discussion tonight with some of my daughters friends who now live in France, one happens to be quite interested in Ks...

Sad day indeed, but good that you got to sit on her one last time and hear/feel her run. Much better to see her ride away too, rather than be man handled on to a trailer as a non runner.

That's 2 precious things you have allowed your SIL to take from you - interesting that you let him have your daughter first and only once he had proved his worth, deemed him worthy of Gertie too. He must be a great guy!!

Hopefully, you directed him at the forum too.....
