Can anybody confirm that the left hand side switchgear assembly is the same on the K100 series as that on the K1100 series ?  I have a broken switch assembly on my K100 and was hoping to swap it with the switch off my non-running K1100 in order to restore headlight/turn signal/horn functionality.  Looking at the parts list on Moto Bins the parts look to be the same for both.  Any replies/thoughts would be welcomed from our knowledgeable members Surprised

Just had a quick look on the MAXBMW parts list site.

May depend on the year of your bikes:

K100 years 07/90 to 01/92 part number is 61312305231
K1100 to 08/95 uses the same part number.
K1100 from 08/95 uses 61312306058

The earlier K100 also use a different part number.

2V and 4V models have different connectors.

Thanks for that Inge K.  I do know of a K100 breaking locally but not sure what year it is.  Could the connections be modified easily to enable the switch from the K1100 to work for me ?  I'm not good with vehicle electrics Sad

I think you'd need to replace the connectors on both sides for a matching pair. It's a colour-for-colour match, so getting the wires right wouldn't be a problem. Not unless your LT switch has the powered screen controls, but from your original post I don't think that's the case? Should be just seven wires in either connector.

Thank you for the input - the electric screen switch for my K1100 is actually a seperate switch in the centre handlebar console and not part of the left hand switchgear.

It's a rather good chance that it is the type that you are looking for, as the
only K100 model with the other type of connector is RS16V (-90 -92).

Well, I spoke to the local owner of the "breaking" K100 and he has told me that I am welcome to take the switchgear and try it out.  We have also come to an arrangement whereby the non-running K1100 will go and live in one of his sheds.  I will update evryone on my progress as and when....... Smile
