This is a bit of a long shot however I'm planning a weeks holiday on the K at the moment it works out at only 1200 miles. Trying to get that up a bit more though to double what I did on my 125 without using motorways in a week 800 miles (just for fun).

Anyway..

I know it's a long shot but has anyone ever been to Yorkshire camping that can recommend any nice spots to stay or any nice roads in that general area (already got butter tubb pass) ?

I'll only be in the area 2 days most probably fancied visiting the train museum for a while so thought I might as well do it next month during my holiday.

Also...

Has anyone got the date for the late trip that people were on in September haven't seen any threads on about it. However I may have missed it. Just wanted to book the time off work, as at the moment holidays are getting quite short on the books.

I suppose I'll have to respond now!

Next weekend I'll be camping at Seamer near Scarborough (arosacamping.co.uk) with the Viking sidecar club. A decent motorcycle friendly site.....well the owner rides an outfit!  cheers

But if you want to visit the York railway museum then here's how we (at another sidecar rally) travel to York. We camp at Moorend Farm camp site at Acaster Malbis. Then, on Saturday morning, we catch the river boat from the local pub, at about 10 am, and trundle down the river to the wharf in the middle of York; about an hour's journey. We then have about 5 hours to explore York before catching the 4 o'cock boat back to Acaster, by which time the pub is open!  drunken

Another site we use is at Newton-on-Rawcliffe, just north of Pickering, ideal for visiting the North Yorkshire Railway that runs from Pickering to Whitby.

Where ever you go, have fun.
Paul.

OOh that sounds interesting I'll have to have a think about that though see below, haven't fully worked out my route so far though it looks like I'll be exploring just on Tuesday.

Hmm sounds quite interesting my route for the week so far is as followed;

Sunday 12th .. Classical Motorcycle Rally  @ mill meace then cat and fiddle (followed by camping)
Monday 13th .. York train museum & Classic car museum
Tuesday 14th .. Bimble around yorkshire dales and North York Moores
Wednesday 15th .. Vic bike pub, classic night

This means I'll only have two days in Yorkshire I've put down one as York train museum as I expect to go from the classic rally to York to rest (via the bike cafes). Then have a good exploration of the museum and possibly a local classic car museum.

After the museums I fancy I think just possibly a nice relaxing day so could add squires onto the end of it. On the Tuesday though my aim would be to catch both the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales. It's just finding the best route for the two.

Think at the moment it seems like camping at the moor end farm for the Sunday (Depending on the answers) on the Monday get a ferry into York and visit the train museum or ride into York. Followed by going over to the Seamer camp site on the Monday and using that as a base for the ride. Coming back on the Tuesday night to get some kip and setting off for the Vic Classic night on the Wednesday.

Couple of questions though;

I'm guessing with the ferry you weren't allowed to take your bike obviously so how is the camp site if I chose that option regarding security Question (As the bike is my main form of transport and main hobby.)

Also the ferry option; you had a nosey around York for 5 hours is there anything else apart from the Train Museum that you would recommend visiting Question

Acaster Malbis is a very quiet village so I've never had any qualms about leaving my bike at the camp site, it's probably safer than leaving a bike in York.

There's plenty to see in York and the railway museum (free entry  cheers) could take several hours to see everything......then there's York Minster.......Yorvik, the Viking museum........'walking the wall', a couple of miles around the city wall... and loads more that I haven't found yet!
Oh, yes, there are one or two pubs.   Beer drinker

That sounds good regarding the security haven't had chance to book anything as of yet, with it all being so hectic. Just finalizing plans and checking bookings (didn't want to book anything if the bike was still broke).

How was the other camp-site anyway, and did you find any nice roads around the area Question

Yeah sure, I'll send you a message on the other forum during next week to sort something out. Any update on the MOT Question
