I need to replace my starter brushes BMW part no 12411459567
Looks like all I can get locally are starter repair kits. Was going to order the kit from EME (I need a new regulator as well from there) but notice the part no is different (12411459007) although it says they are suitable for an 89 RT.
Looks ok but can anyone shed any light on this as to whether they are suitable or maybe where I can get just the brushes in Oz.

Cheers

Munich Motorcycles. $44.00 for a kit. You'll have it in a "coupla days".

Moto-bins...16 pounds. One week delivery? Crap Oz dollar exchange rate.

I hate to say it, but this time Munich Motorcycles may be the choice.

There are two brushes in a K starter. They are sold with separate part numbers from Bay Em Vay. I'm not near my usual source for the numbers but check realoem.com, your bike, section 12 and they're both shown. EME might sell them as a set and that'd 'splain the different number.

Or you could always try Seaside in Ballina, tho' no one there would know what you're talking about.

(I worked there in 2008 & 09)

The Mystic, Big Block, 2nd K1200RS, K12R & K13 are running & ridable.

Yeah, I've check both those out but they'd have to be the most expensive option imo. Freight from Munich MC will be $10 but they always give v.good service.
Motobins... the exchange rate is nearly double atm plus frt.

(I worked there in 2008 & 09) Would've been a differnt business under the Martin's ownership
OK so I need to order both the Brush Set #11 and the Brush Holder Plate #13 to get both brushes??
EME's kit contains both those plus the o-rings and bearings from the look of it so I think I'll go with that. At USD$30 I think its a bargain. Any thoughts?

I worked there in the Ken and Deb days. Ken had only just had his prang (head trauma) when I left to go ride my '91 R100 round OZ for a while. There are new (old?) owners now and the place has had a reno. No more Honda, Hyosung and bloody whipper snippers, either.

I've recently bought the starter motor brush kit (comes with the 2 brushes) as well as the starter motor repair kit (don't know why it's called that as it only has 2 "o" rings) from Munich and "refurbished" my spare starter on the weekend.

$70.00AU all-up. Good for another twenty years!?!
