I am rebuilding the oil/water pump on my 1992 K75 and have a part that I have not been able to identify.  It is a spacer/washer or something that was located between the slip-ring seal and the spacer bushing.  it is approximately 1/8" thick and has a rubber type material in the center where the shaft goes through like a seal of some sort.  It has a diameter slightly larger than the spacer bushing.  I had removed the rotor (stamped type) and the spacer bushing and was in the process of removing the shaft when it fell out of the housing so it was stuck to the seal I guess.  I would like to order a new one if I knew what it was.  Can anybody help me?  Thanks.

I think we need a pic to identify this ...but sounds like a seal ?

if installed correctly the water seal does not need any spacing to the pre made spacer and the impeller

sounds like some one has installed it as a spacer ?

As Charlie said, there is no spacer.
Would it be part of the mechanical seal?
Quite often they disintegrate and come out in pieces.

Only one piece of advice: when assembling the new seal, do EXACTLY what is says in the documentation because if you don't, you WILL break it. No ifs, buts or maybes - it will break.

The old water seal did disintegrate when I removed it.  I couldn't figure out how to post a picture with my question.  Any idea where I can find a photo of an intact old seal to compare?

You guys on this forum are a wealth of knowledge and I really appreciate the help.

Hi everyone

The part you described is from the original water seal.
Previous topics in this forum have included a photo.
Ing will have a photo.
The design of this seal has since changed.

I managed to locate the previous thread.
It is titled "Gabriel original water seal" and is located on page 3 in the Your own renovation section of this forum.
Includes a photo courtesy of Inge.
thanks
