Hey, friends, a have a (spare) pannier (newest generation) which is locked and i do not have a proper key. Has someone already tried to drill out the locks to get the lid open and be able to get the lock barrel out finally? I would like to only destroy the lock..and not very much more Very Happy

uwe ....heres a tip

when you are with friends with other k bikes ,,,,just try their key in that lock

there are only a certain amount of codes ...and many are similar

good luck ....once you get the lock open you can recode it very easily ...possibly to your own key

there are threads that explain this ...in the forum

try the "search"  feature

recoding locks....or similar  as the search criteria

Charlie, rekeying is not the problem, done that already, getting the damned thing open is the problem ... i have tried some other key already, maybe the lock is damaged or somehow stuck. I will have to open it forcefully, i am afraid....my only idea so far is drill the f***er out but be carefull not to drill deeper than the key's lenght and so hopefully detroy the retainer plates, turn the lock open and then pull the barrel out. I still have spare lock barrels with keys...

A locksmith might be able to get it open.

uwe ,
I was quite surprised that when we had a get together ....(bingara )  quite a few surprises surfaced  about whos key fitted what ...

some had ignition some had panieers  and some all of other folks bikes  ...I was really surprised

the only reason I mentioned it

good luck with the drill ...5mm sounds about right to me ....don't forget to put a marker (tape)  on the drill bit to tell you when you have reached the maximum depth... before ruining the lock body ...should be easy to determine from another lock cylinder ...or in fact key ...measuring from the shoulder

cheers
