My blinkers appear to cancel automatically when I change from 1st to 2nd (I think). I find this a nuisance as I'm not sure if they were working or not because I'm too busy looking at the traffic, road etc to notice so I'd like to disconnect this "handy" feature and go back to cancelling them myself.  Anybody know how to do this?  88 RT if that matters.

And a second (non electrical) question - my rear brake master cylinder is showing signs that it might want to leak. The OEM kits are expensive. Are there any alternatives?

Mine cancel after about twenty seconds. Is that the sort of times yours last? Maybe it's not the gear change, just how long before you move.

Hi Phil, here is a scan from the Riders Handbook of my K1100LT which gives the cancel specs for the blinkers. The Riders Handbook for my K75 gives exactly the same info, word for word, so it's a fair bet that the K100 is the same.
Automatic cancel Indica10
Hope that helps.
Cheers

hi phil there is a lead from the instruments to the blinker control unit ...I wonder if this wire was cut - disabled that might do the job ?

haven't looked at the circuits yet to see the colour of the wire but one of the last few at the speedo input area

You're right Charlie. Disconnect Pin 21 (Blue/Green) from the instrument cluster plug and the auto-cancel function is disabled.

So how are the pins numbered, just so I know I have the right one?

Numbering as seen from the back of the cluster:

Automatic cancel Instrument%20cluster%20plug

... or look for the only Blue/Green wire in the bunch.

You might be able to access that wire more easily at the flasher unit
Automatic cancel Flashe10

indeed it would not be wise to cut into the loom to the instruments ,,,just find an end ...as captain suggests ....and put a tag on the cut off end  to what it does ...and where it comes from ....I believe in leaving a small section of the cut off cable attached to the end device ... so cut about 1/2 inch away from the relay unit ????

Also, rather handily, the pin numbers are molded into the back of the instrument housing.

He could also just pull the socket from the connector shroud rather than snip the wire. That becomes reversible and can be brought back to stock. KH's idea also works.
