This is in Oz but the mug has put it in the parts listings so nobody is seeing it. TWB knows where to get the ABS unit repaired he had his done not long ago

Isn't it amazing how many BMWs seem to live in Silverwater NSW

You gotta wonder about that.

One thing for sure, the earlier model K12 is a lot nicer looking that the later '07 '08 ones..... jimo

I bought my 87 RT from them and found Joel very honest with the description of my bike accurate and dealings above board. At the time they had just dumped a lot of their K100 stuff as the model had been so reliable and many parts were not moving.

Good to know, but would be handy to have a little provenance on the bike and why it's unregistered. It's not just 'run out'... the plates have been handed in, so there must be some circumstances around that and... it is sitting in a wreckers yard.

Alas, that would be a 'servo' ABS model, so no-go on rebuilding that one with ease or on the cheap. It can be done, though, as a mate of mine from near Seattle has successfully torn into and put back correctly, several of them now. He had to locate and buy some special tools to even open the things up! It's often just the filter/plunger arrangement that goes belly up simply due to irregular or lack of brake fluid changes.

The easiest way to identify which brake system it is is to look at the top side of the callipers. If they're open to the brake pads and retaining clips they're servo. A closed-top calliper is  non-servo. The pads are shaped differently.

Here's a servo brake pad:
