Hello all, I recently became the new owner of a 1991 k75s showing 47 thousand on the clock.  I think it is a great bike with plenty of power for me and comfortable to ride, although I am hoping to change the bars as I find it a stretch on long spins.  I would appreciate any advice concerning fitting bars from an RT or similar, I am sure there is a wealth of information on the subject I will have to do some digging, but any and all advice is welcome to save time.  My bike is cosmetically clean but needs some work in terms of mechanical's.  I believe that my fan is not working as I have not heard it run since I bought the bike, also there seems to be a clicking coming from the engine when running which I am hoping is the alternator needing new 'monkey nuts', I am basing this on what I have read online so I am hoping it is not anything more serious, again any advice on this subject greatly appreciated.  Here is a pic of my bike  bounce  :cyclops:

Hi Johnny.
Welcome to the forum. What part are you from?
You can change to RT bars but it will involve new cables and brake line. By the time you pick up a pair of bars and the bits needed, it'll not be cheap. Remember that BMW bars are a slightly different size to normal bars so it's easiest to use BMW ones for any changes.
The clicking could be the monkey nuts. Not sure myself as I've never had that problem. But I'm sure someone will advise.
Whatever it is, it's unlikely to be anything serious.

Thanks for that Comberjohn, Im from Limerick which is in the south.  Re changing the bars I was hoping cabling and brake line is all I am going to need, hopefully you are right about clicking noise, it seems to disappear when I pick up speed. Hello From Ireland 112350

I'm very familiar with traveling down south. Do a lot of miles down there each year doing the Irish Photo Rally.
You should have been with us last Saturday. Was good craic and a good opportunity to meet some of the guys. I went down on the Friday afternoon, stayed in a b&b near Athlone and met up on the Saturday morning. Had covered 407 MILES by the time I got home Saturday evening.
Think I'm the only 'Nordie' left that still meets up with the chaps. Hello From Ireland 177381
There's Dai, of course, but says he can never get the time off. Hi Dai!
Know you're reading this instead of working.
CluainSi (John) is from your part of the world. Rides a K1200LT.

Hi Johnny, and welcome from another Limerick "Eccentric". In Ireland you can go from one end of the year to the other on a K bike without the fan coming on. You need to be stuck in traffic for at least ten minutes to activate it. If you want someone to check over your bike, send me a P.M. I am in east Limerick near Pallasgreen.

Welcome Johnny,

Lovely looking bike you've got yourself there.

As you can see from the selection of welcomes so far, you are in the midst of a fabulous selection of eccentrics. Such a pity that you joined the forum too late to know about/join the ride last Saturday and meet many of them in person. It was a great turnout from all over (and the odd one from over there).

As Avenger says, it is not unusual for the fan not to be cutting in at this time of year. The radiator is pretty efficient even at very low speeds. Fairly easy to check/fault find if you need reassurance that all is well.

Enjoy

I am often in Limerick, we do some work at the MTI Building and am also working up near Pallasgreen.

Would be good to see you out and about and we may have some outings down Cork way.......

Fans are used so little here they usually end up seizing from lack of use.
