I would appreciate comments on the bike listed on Kijiji in Lethbridge for 2500 Canadian Dollars.

http://www.kijiji.ca/v-sport-touring/lethbridge/1986-bmw-k100rs/1148298124?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true

A friend is considering purchasing it. From the little information offered is it reasonable value for the year and condition.
Thanks
Shep

It would certainly be worth further consideration and a good look. If you go to the portal page and have a read of "so you just bought a used BMW What now" you will get a good idea of what to look out for. The price is in the ball park figures for me. Tell the owner to remove the belly fairing prior to inspection so the oil/water pump can be inspected for leaking.

I agree with Rick re. the price. That's about £900.

Bike has been reduced to $1,900 Very Happy
A friend of mine just sold a K100rt on Kijiji (Halifax, N.S.)
The bike was for sale for almost 2 years and was in perfect shape with a new top quality paint job. (The friend is a top mechanic and the RT was his baby)
It went for (Can)$2,500.
When people advertise bikes on Kijiji, they expect that the buyer will try to reduce the price. Even if $1,900 is a good price, you could try to bargain a few hundreds $. Don't go too low as you have to respect the seller. If we start to bargain our K bikes at low price, it will reduce the value for everybody.

The value being low is one reason I love and hate the K100RS/RT. When you want one you can get a great deal, when you want to sell a super clean one in perfect nick, you don't get what she is truly worth. Good and bad for us. Same goes for the BMW E28 535i like I love and still have.
