Im so chuffed with my Wilbers shock. It has totally transformed the bike.

Before the change, going into a corner was a vague, wallowy (and sometimes scary) mess. I didnt even notice that I just wasnt enjoying the ride but now thats all changed. It feels so taut and precise. To use the cliche; it corners like its on rails. Its also taken away all that driveshaft slop when you open the throttle. This is how the K100RS should have always felt. Maybe they did when they were new (but I could never afford a new one).

The shock cost me £400 GBP. I went for the 630 model with rebound adjustment, though they do a cheaper (£300) model - the Eco-line - with just preload adjustment.

Highly recommended.

Sorry I hadnt cleaned the bike before the photo :-)

Exactly the same for my K1100 with an EMC shock Wilbers suspension on my 16v Icon_cheers

the K100 has a "progressive suspension" shock and it's very good too!!!

Looks lovely. Just what my 8 valve RS needs. Any more details? Cheers.

Goodonya, that shockie looks like a jewel! I felt the same way just after fitting a Works Performance shock to the rear of my '87 K-RS. Prior to that it felt like the swingarm bearings were loose. Post shock install the bike felt like it was literally 'on rails'. The real change came when I was able to finally piss off those squared-off Bridgestone S11 tyres and spoon on my all-time favourite bias ply Pirelli Sport Demons. Now the bike is on rails wet or dry, on bumpy or smooth roads, and steers less like a barge and more like a yacht.

So, the lesson for the day is that tyres work best when they're 'held' to the road by good suspension. Sounds like a symbiotic relationship to me.

Its true. After 23 years riding (with a little time out for babies etc) Im a little embarrassed to admit that Ive never thought a jot about suspension. Ive always put it down to it being either a good bike or a bad bike Wilbers suspension on my 16v Icon_redface

Apart from that horrible feeling that the back wheel was trying to overtake the front halfway through a bend, the engine seems loads more responsive. It sounds daft, but I guess its just laying the power down more smoothly, and doing just what I instruct it to do with the throttle.

I feel like Im riding stacks better, faster and most importantly safer. Im buzzing Wilbers suspension on my 16v Icon_bounce

Hi boristhebike: I got the shock from Revs suspension/ Every Accessory (same company) in the Midlands.

Here's a link, and another one . Ask for John Wilbers suspension on my 16v Icon_biggrin

And here's another [ in the interests of impartiality ]. The new RAM hi-performance shocker specifically developed for Kay bikes.

Speak to those nice guys at www.realmengineering.com , tell them TJ sent you and you will get a 10% forum discount - prices around £200 for a fully adjustable shock complete with spring, C Spanner and new fixings.

I've got one on my K100RS [ 25 mm shorter than stock ] and another on my K1100RS project. Over 12 months use now [ 13K miles] and performing superbly.
