Ok, so i recently installed an Acewell-2853 and used the Blue/Black [16] wire coming from the coil. However, it's 'jumping' up and down the rev-range. I've heard that using a resistor 'cleans up' the signal and eliminates this. After doing some research, I've come across this:

Any experience with either of these suggestions?  Which would be the preferred solution?

I had the exact same problem with the same Acewell. Take a look at this thread from the motobrick forum. http://www.motobrick.com/index.php?topic=6814.0

I tried both the solution in reply 2 and reply 4. The former helped, but didn't totally solve the problem. The second totally solved the problem.

can I add that the guys in that post used a general purpose type diode that are not known to conduct well at higher frequencies

the old silicon diode in914  in4148 etc is rated up to hundreds of thousands of hertz

what were looking for here is something that switches on fast ....and ...switches off fast

perhaps any schotky (very fast )  diode (rated for higher voltages than 100 v) will do a far better job ...

I'm in agreement with Charlie. When it comes to fast switching, use a schottky diode. In this case it's not so much the total frequency that a diode is capable of switching, but as Charlie says, how fast it can switch on and off.

Great, now I'm almost more confused that before. Ok, so has anyone with an Acewell used any of my first mentioned options? Has it worked?

If not is there anyone that can explain ( inc. diagram for a 10 year old) how to fix it for certain. Yes, again pretend I'm 10. 
Sorry, my electronic understanding is a bit like  but I'm learning.

On the diagram in post 4 that shows a 1n4007 diode, replace that diode with a 1n5819. Your local electronics shop will sell you the right component. I don't have an Acewell speedo but it should fix the problem permanently.

Question: the 33k and 10k resistors how many watts? Same for the cap, how many V's? Or did I miss that somewhere?

Looks like post #2 had .5 watt for the resistor...
