Hello everyone,

I'm a new rider, I just bought my first bike, an 89 K100 RT. Love the bike, although I won't be able to ride it for the next few months as I live in SW Wisconsin. Hopefully it's a good runner, it has 60,000 miles and sat for 4 years before I bought it... But if anything goes wrong I suppose this is a good place to be.

Welcome to the forum.

That's a nice RT......nice seat too. Have you working ABS?

Look on the home page here in the section what to do if you have just bought a K bike.

Don't be afraid to ask questions, everyone is very helpful.

Olaf

Welcome Austin,

Nice looking bike.

Another new member from Wisconsin! Lovely part of the country, but I know what winter is like up there..and it's not ideal for riding so not surprised that you won't be riding for a few months.

Great choice of a first bike - 60000 miles is not an issue at all, sitting for 4 years may give you a few problems depending on how she was stored (especially if it stood with fuel in the tank) and it will be worth you taking the time to work through a few fairly basic maintenance tasks.

Olaf has already pointed you to the appropriate article that will give you an excellent head start.

No supposing...this is a (very) good place to be!
Enjoy

Thank you guys. Those are the pictures from Craigslist. It's actually a little more worse for wear than it appears in the pictures, been set down a few times on either side.

My ABS is not working. Nor is my horn. Horn makes a click like it's trying to work when you press the button. But I will check out the new buyer guide.

It was apparently always kept in a garage. I have reciepts for all work done except $4000 worth of work that was apparently done before it was parked in 2012. I bought it from a guy who bought it from the first owners widow (family friend). He tried to sell it for a small profit but wanted it gone before winter so he sold it to me for the same price he got it for.

Welcome!  If you have a spot with a bit of heat to knock the edge off the cold you can use the winter to get that sweet ride ready for the riding season.  With the Russell seat that bike will be a real mile muncher!
