Perhaps the extremely sharp angle where the throttle cable goes into the top of the carby has something to do with it? Razz

Do what you want with the spark plug lead, but personally, I would look into getting a longer connecting rod.  Looks like a bit of a reach from the crank to the cylinder.

If it is an anti-clockwise circuit with left hand corners, I don't see a problem.
