I´m changing the rear end of my ex-police k75 to civilian style. Bought a good rear fairing of fleebay. The faring is drilled for luggage carrier and it looks to me as if the holes are original, i.e. that they have not being drilled afterwards. Very accurately drilled and what looks like original paint in them.

Does anyone know if there are many types of OEM carriers, or are they interchangeble between models, for example k75, k100, k1100?

As far as I know all the factory racks are the same however the rack that the OEM topbox fixes to are a bit different in that there is a wide centre section that the box locks to.

Hi Rick. I see on ebay that some of the racks on offer come with a plate that is probably fastened to the rack to support the top box. The question is if these "top box racks" fit the same holes in the fairing as other OEM racks.

The parts lists at Max BMW say that the K75, K100 and K1100 all have the same part called a "luggage grid" p/n 2 300 052.  So I guess they are interchangeable.

The grids have slots that allow the tabs on a mounting plate for the 22L top case to slip into.  There is a key on the top case that locks the case into the plate, and the upward pull on the plate by the case key holds the plate in place.

When the case is removed the plate can be removed from the grid by slipping the tabs back out of the slots in the grid.

Yes, p/n 2 300 052, Luggage Grid seems to fit all these machines:
