Hello everyone, just joining the forumn in anticipation of picking up my new old 1986 BMW K100 on Monday.  Its a non runner, electrical problem sounds starter relay/starter motor issue and is my winter project.  I'm not new to BMW's as I also own a last of the boxers, 1996 BMW R100RT Classic and I spent a bit of time bringing that back to proper running order last year as the carbs were all over the place and sticking butterflies, damaged 'o'-rings etc.  Runs like a dream and I did 918 miles around scotland on it.

Fancied a K100 for a while so found a bargain and can't wait to get going, I shall no doubt be popping  up asking silly questions in the near future.

I always like to have a winter motorbike restoration or the wife will find me some painting and decorating jobs in the house!!

Ha Ha I have to do it all year we don't have much of a winter here and its the best riding weather. Summers are too hot in the man cave to do much there and riding in 40° C is a bit much. I reckon that having a no riding season makes for good down time.

Welcome Wilbo,

Monday is now excitingly close! Hope the new bike doesn't have too many problems - but lots of advice hereabouts for any problems you may find.

I also hope your garage/workshop is warmer than mine - I've just spent a day working on my bikes and, with no heating and an outside air temperature of -1.5 deg C it was a chilly experience and I was glad to get back in the house. With no wife to tell me otherwise, a few bike parts have made their way indoors...

Enjoy.

I now have bike in garage so starting initial tasks.  I put a woodburner in my garage 2 years ago when it was that really cold winter, me and my dog are like toast, wife always complains my garage is warmer than house!

You used the Australian link......

2 weeks ago I put a lorry load of wood blocks in my shed and there will be another load in June. It has room for 3 cars but never gets a car. But no wood burning stove, it's in the house.

Now all this talk of wood burning stoves has me thinking....need one for the shed! And then some cleared out space for another K. rebuild my LT.

Nice bikes though!!
