Dear All,

Last year after acquiring the K100LT, I stripped the fairing completely, and had it re-painted. This process took a couple of months. Needless to say, I didn't take near enough picyures, hence the first picture shows the bits left over. Does anybodu out there have any idea where they belong?

The second picture shows the perished green circular sectioned sealing strip. Is it possible to buy replacement for this stuff?

Thanx,

Rick. G.

Picture 1, bottom right corner...the black round thingo.
There is a "flattish" piece of steel that goes across the top of the battery to hold it down. The black round thingo sits between the hold down plate and the "bump" on the overflow tank. It's really a spacer.

The two top bits, top photo are infills, they go where you screw the top fairing to the bottom fairing and fit next to the tank.

The top ones the left hand side and the next ones the right side i think. you can see the two holes where the self tappers go.

Oh man! I'm in need of an answer to this questin as well. The heat seal on my RT fairing is in the same shape as yours and I do not want to pay BMW's price for a replacement seal ($30+). This seal is in contact with the engine which accounts for its current condition. I think the material should be able to withstand direct contact with the engine components, possibly silicone rubber based. If anyone has a suggestion for a replacement, I would be interested in knowing as well as the OP.

The top two are indeed infills which are screwed onto where the top and bottom part of the fairing is bolted together. The larger hole is to fit over the bolt of the fairing support that bolts to the frame.
The rubber bit of the lower left fits on top of the fairing to engine mount, behind the knee cover. The recess with hole fits in way of the bolt and strip.
The round thingy is fitted in the battery bracket, but is intended to keep the cooling water overflow tank pressed down in its recess in the battery support frame.

Wow! Thanks v.much, lads. I plan to remove the fairing again soon, so at re-assembly time, I'm a bit wiser now! Thanks again.
