Are there front and rear master cylinder rebuild kits out there? Mine still work but . You know, the bike sat since 2004 . I took the rear one apart and cleaned it all out because it was locked up. That worked and it feels good but it's not new or rebuilt with new parts, just cleaned up and  a flush with fresh fluid and a bleed.  The front worked so I just did a bleed with new fluid but now after a year it's getting sluggish  when I release the leaver and not popping back out like it should. I'd really like to rebuild both units. As for the rest of the bike , I have made real progress and the new fuel system is all installed. The tank is back on the bike and once I put gas in it and a battery in the bike I am ready to fire it . So,any helpful pointers on where I can get rebuild stuff for the masters will be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Ed ( yamaguzzi)

Beemer Boneyard often has them in stock.

Do a search here on the Forum.

Don't expect much in the kit...Google some images and you'll see what I mean.

A spring and some plastic. Stoopidly priced for what you get.

Don't waste your money on the rear master cylinder.  There are a couple of us on the Motobrick.com forum who have replaced the OEM master cylinder with one of these.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/MOTORCYCLE-QUAD-PIT-DIRT-BIKE-ATV-REAR-FOOT-BRAKE-MASTER-CYLINDER-RESERVOIR-/172224850029?hash=item281966a86d

Takes an afternoon with some hand tools to make the modifications to get it to work, but the price is right and it works great compared to the previous Magura master cylinders and the $200+ I had in them trying to make them work.

Point 75, that would be worth it just for the reservoir. Good find.

Cheers

Looking at the image, I see what appears to be modification to the plunger rod. ie. cut and threaded with a nut installed.
Are any other mods required? TIA, Troy

The only modifications I did were to cut the threaded plunger rod to protrude from the cylinder about the same distance as the OEM plunger and put a slight counter bore in the cut end to hold the pin on the pedal centered.  This was necessary because the rod was about 5" long and had a clevis on the end.   The nut is the lock nut for the pin adjustment locked on the pedal.  The plunger rod is spring centered, so it doesn't need much.

I also had to connect the reservoir hoses together which required making a coupling with 6mm on one end and 8mm on the other.  I did that by soldering parts cut from two couplings together.

The mounting holes match up nicely with the holes in the plate.  I just needed to use longer screws to mount the master cylinder.

1500 miles now, and it still works great.  If not for this thread, I have forgotten it's not OEM.

I'm running the same brake cylinder, once modified I wont even bother with kits. I bought a spare one for stock complete cylinder $13.33 AU. For that price why bother with kits. The new one is actually feels better in my opinion than the OEM.

Very cheap conversion, break down of the cost in OZ currency Chinese M/Cyl $13.33 pedal stop bolt $2.00 new boot $4.00 boot retaining clip $2.00 new hose $10.00 ( but $60.00 retail) M/Cyl retaining bolts and washers $2.00 Hose reducer 6mm to 8mm $5.00. hose clips $2.00. brake fluid $5.00 total cost $45.33. Next time it will cost me $13.33 plus $5.00 for the brake fluid. Two others had a slight problem bleeding I had very little problem with my Nescafe bleeder I just had to push the pedal down as I hit the trigger on the suction gun. Installed new M/Cyl March 12th the pedal is firmer than the original but not uncontrollable or in anyway a concern.. The only problem was a slight weep where the hose connected to the M/Cyl from the reservoir caused by the spring type clip which I replaced with a screw type. I ordered three more M/Cyl two for a mate and one for spare. When storing M/Cyl's you need to remove all traces of brake fluid and coat internals with rubber grease. http://www.motobrick.com/index.php/topic,9364.msg79956.html#msg79956
