Hi!
I'm finally mature enough to take my fathers K100RS 1985 from the garage. Only 30 000 kilometers driven. One reason for that is 15 years of something wrong with igniton. Now it is time to fix it.

I'm here to look for some help. I will try to fix it first myself and ask around if needed.

Maybe full restoration later when basic stuff is fixed first.

Welcome Alltid, 85 models are popular and plenty. Connector cleaning and switch cleaning will help.

Welcome Alltid,

Glad to hear that you have found the forum and are prepared to do something about that dodgy ignition switch and the lack of kilometres on the bike. Just make sure that your Dad doesn't take it back as soon as you've got the problem sorted.

Before your start fixing - type "ignition switch" into the search engine on the portal page - that will bring up a number of related posts (one was quite recent) and let you read into the subject before you start dismantling the switch. Sometimes it's wise to read around the subject before diving in. When I first found the forum, it was just after I had fixed one of the handlebar switches...must admit I did laugh when I then read the comment about doing the disassembly in a box or bag to catch the springs and other minute components that I had just spent a few frantic minutes searching the darkest recesses of my garage floor for - after they had sprung out and gone to ground. Ever since, I always do a little research first and have benefited greatly from the top tips from people have been-there-done-that before me.

If you can't find the answer using the search function - then just ask and some helpful soul will be there to help.

Enjoy
